History[]
Sir Francis Verney was a wealthy early 17th century pirate, driven to piracy by a nagging wife. He was captured by Sicilians and spent the remainder of his life as a galley slave.

Pirates of the Caribbean[]
In the interior queue for Pirates of the Caribbean in Disneyland is a mural of Francis Verney. The artwork for the mural was created by Marc Davis as Verney was once planned to appear in a version of the attraction centred around historic pirates.

- There is a mural of Verney in the queue for the Disneyland attraction. Boat #29 is named, "Francis Verney".
