"Skyrise" is the second segment of the twenty-second episode of Miles from Tomorrowland. It premiered on September 26, 2015 alongside "Unexpected Ally".

Plot[]

In the workshop, Miles and M.E.R.C. watch a video about Ruggles explaining how great the new Skyrise Space Elevator is. Leo also designed the ship, and Miles and M.E.R.C. get to be the first to try it out today. Miles wonders if his new invention, the bubble shield, would work just as well. The shield is designed to protect the Photon Flyer from space crashes. However, like the last three attempts, the bubble hardly covers the ship, disappointing Miles. Just then, Stella informs him that the Stellosphere has arrived at the Skyrise station.

Miles wonders if Leo will be given a special award, but Leo says that he only drew the plans for the Skyrise, and it also took an intergalactic team to build it, so this is their day as much as his. The ship then parks at the Skyrise station. There, Admirals Watson and Crick welcome everyone to the opening ceremony, and recognize those who contributed to the elevator. Leo is credited for his design, Kree Wimpley is credited for overseeing construction of the spaceport, Bobble Blopp is credited for designing the long elevator cable, and Ambassador Titus is credited for making the Skyrise pod himself. The Skyrise Space Elevator then opens.

However, once the parents and the Admirals head inside, the pod malfunctions; one part glitches, the doors slam shut, and the elevator falls down to Alarbus. Miles says that that was not supposed to happen and calls Leo, who has no idea what is happening, and will call him back when he knows more. While Phoebe tells everyone to calm down, Ruggles says that the controls have overloaded, the motor will not shut off, and the brakes are burning out. Leo finds out that the control unit is not the one he designed. Titus explains that Leo's did not blend with his style, so he changed it. However, when it malfunctions, Titus regrets doing that. Leo then activates an emergency brake. Even with help, the elevator is only slowing down a little.

Leo then informs Miles that the elevator is experiencing some technical difficulties. Miles decides to press the up button for the elevator to change direction, but it does not work. Everyone in the elevator comes up with an idea of reversing the motor so they go up instead of down. Leo finds out that access to the reverse motor switch is through a hatch on the roof. Since the doors are locked while the pod is moving, Miles and M.E.R.C. decide to get to the hatch on the roof. Loretta, Blodger, and Pipp open the doors so Miles and M.E.R.C. can head out of the spaceport.

Once they make it to the pod, Miles and M.E.R.C. activate their grav-boots and grav-feet, respectively, and Miles opens the hatch. Leo tells him to move the switch to the up position. Miles does so, reversing the motor just as the pod is about to crash to the ground. Everyone congratulates the two, and Miles and M.E.R.C. head back up to the spaceport.

However, Leo finds out that the pod is not slowing down, and questions Kree if the spaceport is built solid enough to stop them. Kree says that with the speed they are going, they will smash right through it. Phoebe then tells everyone in the spaceport to get away from the elevator, and Miles and M.E.R.C. to stay clear. While Leo and others are still working on the emergency brake and Titus nervously eating his snack, Ruggles warns everyone about impact, and the pod smashes through the station.

Phoebe questions if everyone is all right. Miles and M.E.R.C. say they are fine, and in the pod, Phoebe says that as long as it stays sealed, they will be fine. Just then, cracks appear from the window, and Bobble and Blibby try to cover them. However, Leo says that if more cracks appear, they will lose their air. Miles then comes up with an idea to cover the cracks on the outside, or cover the whole pod, which would keep the air in.

Miles then teams with Blodger and Pipp, stating that combined bubble shields would be enough to cover the whole Skyrise pod. Miles tells Leo that they have him covered, and Miles, Blodger, and Pipp successfully cover the Skyrise pod with bubble shields to cover up the cracks. They then push it back towards Alarbus. Miles says that that reminds him of cosmic explorer rule #118. Blodger thinks it is never blow your nose in a wormhole, but Miles says that that is rule #119, and rule #118 is what you can't do alone, you can do as a team, even if you have to make it up as you go. Miles then tells M.E.R.C. to slow them down from below.

In the beach in Alarbus, the Callistos are enjoying their time there, and Miles assumes that it is time to fix the Skyrise pod. Leo agrees, but he will have to wait until his team is available, and they all look very busy. M.E.R.C. uses one bubble shield to cover himself, and rolls down the sand.
