Feeling ignored by Anaximander, Billy decides to take in a new pet - a giant dog-like slug called Sluggy.
Plot[]
Billy is making a small model using pickles and straws. He attempts to get his pet rat Anaximander to help, but he, as usual, shows little to no care at all in his owner's personal life. Billy is offended and wanders off. He ends up at a cave where he encounters a small slug that has features similar to Billy. The slug's tuft of green hair turns orange to match with Billy's, causing him to be named Sluggy. With the instincts of a dog, Sluggy takes a liking to Billy and Billy decides to adopt him. He takes him home and begins to play with him and feed him like a typical dog owner and actually begins to enjoy his company.
Billy tries putting Sluggy to sleep so that he can finish his project, but Sluggy keeps coming back. Billy tries to outrun and hide from him, but no matter where he goes, Sluggy always follows. Billy finally asks for the aid of Marsha and Zeke and they manage to trap him in a cardboard box. They drive him out and Billy tries to give a tearful goodbye. When the kids return home, Sluggy is waiting for them at the front. Some time later, Sluggy has coated the entire house with his slime, much to the annoyance of everyone.
Billy decides to leave and live with Sluggy in his cave (adopting a springy eye headset and taping his body) and bids goodbye to Zeke and Marsha. Life ends up being tough for Billy at the cave and decides to speak with Sluggy. However, bigger slugs appear and Sluggy takes off to be with them (his hair turning green again). Billy is tearful seeing his former pet go, but ultimately learns to peace with it. Anaximander shows up and proceeds to spray the slime coated Billy. Realizing that Anaximander truly does care, he offers to play catch. Anaximander just sprays him again.
