"So This is Love" is a romantic ballad featured in Cinderella.
Plot
The song is performed by the offscreen vocals of Cinderella (Ilene Woods) and Prince Charming (Mike Douglas) as they dance throughout the castle during the ball. In during which, the two gradually fall in love with each other, though Cinderella never realizes who she's actually dancing with. The song comes to an end when the clock strikes twelve, forcing Cinderella to return home before the Fairy Godmother's magic dissipates. The next day, Cinderella learns that the man she danced with was, in fact, the Prince, and that whoever's foot fits the glass slipper she left behind at the ball will become his bride. In response, she absent-mindedly hums the song to herself while doing chores. Unfortunately, this causes Lady Tremaine to recognize her as the mystery girl who danced with the Prince, leading her to trap her in her room so she can't try on the slipper when the Grand Duke arrives with it.
Lyrics
Cinderella:
Mmmmmm, Mmmmmm
So this is love, mmmmmm
So this is love
So this is what makes life divine
I'm all aglow, mmmmmm
And now I know
Prince Charming:
And now I know
Cinderella and Prince Charming:
The key to all heaven is mine
Cinderella:
My heart has wings, mmmmmm
and I can fly
Cinderella and Prince Charming:
I'll touch every star in the sky
So this is the miracle that I've been dreaming of
Cinderella: Mmmmmm
Prince Charming: Mmmmmm
Cinderella and Prince Charming: So this is love
Trivia
- This is the first duet sung by a Disney Princess and Prince, the second would be "Once Upon a Dream" from Sleeping Beauty, and the third would be "A Whole New World" from Aladdin.
- The original concept for this song and a deleted song, "Dancing on a Cloud" was for Cinderella and Prince Charming to, seemingly, be dancing in the clouds, lost in each others eyes. This was changed to the current concept, since it added to the realism. This concept would later be used in Sleeping Beauty.
- The Cheetah Girls performed a cover of the song for Disneymania 5. They have a music video, but there are no clips from Cinderella in it. Among the lyrics used are some of the lyrics sung in Spanish.
- Cinderella references the song when she changes into her comfy clothes in Ralph Breaks the Internet.
