Sofia is an exuberant and confident 12-year-old who has faith in her own abilities. However, like any other girl, she is shy about her body going through changes. This implies that her confidence stems from her trying to hide her insecurities and her fears of growing up. It is through Baymax's intervention that she learns to embrace all aspects of herself big and small.

Sofia is of average pre-teen height with brown skin and black curly hair tied up at the top. She has round pink glasses, pink-white-orange striped shirt, denim overalls, and violet shoes. She also wears a headband, wrist bands, and socks that are all orange with a white stripe going through them. Additionally, Sofia also wears braces.

- Sofia is the third major Disney character to be openly depicted going through menstruation, the first being Sydney Reynolds from Sydney to the Max and the second being Mei Lee from Turning Red.
