Sonia Davis is a character that appeared in the Disney Channel series The Ghost and Molly McGee. She made her debut in the episode "Ice Princess"
Background[]
When she was alive, Sonia Davis was a local Brighton figure skating girl made good who made it all the way to the Global Games. She was going for the gold when she fell on her last triple axel that not only literally split the middle judge's hat, but also cost her medal, career, and left skate, leaving her epically humiliated. Every 4 years during the Global Games since the accident, she practiced her skating on Brighton Pond, continuing even after her death. Unfortunately, her cryokinetic powers as a ghost cause a huge storm that shuts down the entire city whenever she practices her skating, which the locals refer to as "The Curse of the Ice Princess".
Role in the series[]
In the present day during such a major snow storm about to hit Brighton, the McGees learn about the "curse" while gathering supplies for the Global Games. After Scratch tells them about Sonia Davis and her past, the McGees visit her as she tries to perfect her routine, but needs a partner. Pete is revealed to be a former ice skater himself and becomes Sonia's partner, but she threatens to freeze Brighton forever if their routine fails. The two of them perform flawlessly, but fail at their very last move. Instead of being angry, Sonia realizes that she had a lot of fun and gives up on winning, finally able to pass on.
