"Sooner or Later" is a song sung by Aunt Tempy in the film Song of the South. It was written by Ray Gilbert and Charles Wolcott.
A rewritten version was originally to have been featured in Disneyland's Splash Mountain in the "Burrow's Lament" scene prior to the drop, but would be replaced by a dark reprise of "Everybody's Got a Laughing Place". But the song can still be heard in the queue of the attraction.
Lyrics[]
Sooner or later you're gonna be comin' around,
I betcha, I betcha that I catch ya,
You wait and see.
Sooner or later you're gonna be hangin' around,
I betcha, I betcha if I catch ya,
You'll hear from me.
You're gonna knock on my door
You've done it before
Matter of factly, I don't know exactly when
But sooner or later you're gonna be hangin' around
And want my cookin' again.
You're gonna knock on my door [knock knock]
You've done it before [knock knock]
Matter of factly I expected you exactly then!
Cause sooner or later I know you'd be hangin' around
And want my cookin' again.
But you ain't gonna get it!
You and I said goodbye
With a friendly kiss
And though I'm not the surest kind,
I'm kinda sure of this:
Sooner or later you're gonna be comin' around,
I'll betcha, I betcha that I getcha,
You wait and see.
Sooner or later you'll wanna be hangin' around,
I letcha, I betcha if I letcha,
You'll baby me.
You're gonna knock on my door
You've done it before
Matter o'factly, I don't know exactly when
But sooner or later you're gonna be comin' around
And want my lovin' again.
[Verse 1]
Sooner or later that rabbit is gonna come home, (He's comin')
I betcha, I betcha that he'd get there,
You wait and see. (Will he, mama?)
Sooner or later Br'er Fox'll be letting him go,
I betcha, Br'er Rabbit's gonna get him,
You'll wait and see. (You'll wait and see)
He's gonna trick Old Br'er Fox
Get away while he talks
Matter of factly, I don't know exactly when
But sooner or later that rabbit is gonna come home (Gonna come home)
He's learned his lesson again.
He's gonna fool Old Br'er Bear
And escape from his lair (He is?)
Matter of factly, I don't know exactly when (Sooner or later?)
But sooner or later that rabbit is gonna come home (Gonna come home)
He's learned his lesson again
[Verse 2]
Sooner or later that rabbit is gonna come home, (He's comin')
I betcha, I betcha that he'd get there,
You wait and see. (Will he, mama?)
Sooner or later Br'er Fox'll be letting him go,
I betcha, Br'er Rabbit's gonna fool him,
You'll wait and see. (You'll wait and see)
He's gonna trick Old Br'er Fox
Get away while he talks
Matter of factly, I don't know exactly when
But sooner or later that rabbit is gonna come home (Gonna come home)
He's learned his lesson again.
He's gonna fool Old Br'er Bear (Yeah!)
And escape from his lair (He is?)
Matter of factly, I don't know exactly when (Sooner or later?)
But sooner or later that rabbit is gonna come home (Gonna come home)
He's learned his lesson again
