Spider-Man (real name Peter Benjamin Parker) is a Marvel character and the protagonist of the MCU animated series Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man. He is an alternate reality version of Peter Parker from Earth-616, voiced by Hudson Thames, who voiced an alternate version of the original character, in What If...? and Marvel Zombies.
Spider-Man was created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko.
Background
Peter Parker was born to Mary and Richard Parker in 2001, but at some point in his childhood, Mary passed away from unknown circumstances and Richard got arrested. This led to Peter moving into the apartment of his aunt May and uncle Ben. Over the years, Peter quickly grew to love science and had a babysitter named Pearl Pangan, who he quickly developed a crush on. Sometime before Peter started freshman year of high school, uncle Ben passed away from an undisclosed illness rather than being killed by a thief, which brought Peter closer to his aunt May.
Role in the series
This series follows Peter Parker during his first few months as Spider-Man, in an alternate universe, where he is mentored by Norman Osborn instead of Tony Stark/Iron Man.
Season One
Peter is bitten by a radioactive spider, which gives him his powers.
In the first episode, Peter Parker is visiting Midtown High school for orientation when the school is destroyed when Doctor Strange, from a different world, is fighting an unknown creature that destroys the school and Peter helps Nico while Strange leaves through the portal. Unknown to everyone, a radioactive spider falls from Strange's portal and bites Parker as Nico introduces herself to him. This causes Peter to faint before a time jump of a few months. The whole of Midtown High are tranferred to another school as a result of the attacks, where Peter befriends Lonnie Lincoln and reunites with childhood crush, Pearl Pangan. Peter later returns home from school to find Norman Osborn speaking to May about an internship he has offered Peter.
In the second episode, Norman Osborn offers Peter an internship at Oscorp, which he accepts but he finds it harder to balance his normal life and being Spider-Man at the same time. Because of his excuses to leave and act as Spider-Man, Peter worries that his internship is in danger, but works with Carla Connors, this universe's version of the Lizard. At the end of the episode, Peter is called to Norman Osborn's office and fears he is getting fired so begs for another chance, only for Osborn to show him footage of Peter changing into his Spider-Man suit and reveal that he knows the teenager is the newest superhero, known as Spider-Man.
In "Secret Identity Crisis", Peter has a meeting with Norman Osborn about the latter finding out his secret identity, who offers to make Peter a new suit and promises to keep his secret identity. Peter explains why he decided to become Spider-Man and declines the suit, quitting as an intern in the process. Osborn helps Spider-Man while he fights a couple of teenagers. Peter agrees to have Osborn help him, who gives him a new suit in the following episode. Peter returns to Oscorp, admiring his new white suit, only to find Harry, Norman's son, has witnessed Peter removing the suit, revealing his identity.
In "The Unicorn Unleashed!", Peter receives help from Harry with stopping crime as Spider-Man in case his father is not available. As himself, Peter goes to the movies with Nico, inviting Harry to come with them, to which Nico agrees although she clearly isn't too happy about it. In the following episode, Peter apologises to Nico about surprising her with Harry's presence at the movies, to which she accepts and they watch a movie together at his a house, to which Harry is invited to again, as Peter wants him and Nico to get along. While Peter hopes to have a night off, he is contacted by Norman Osborn to suit up as Spider-Man so makes a quick excuse, leaving Harry and Nico alone. To their surprise, they bond and Harry reveals Peter's secret identity, as he thinks Nico already knows. This upsets Nico as she thought she and Peter didn't keep secrets from each other as they are meant to be best friends.

In "Scorpion Rising", Peter tries to get through to Nico and explain to her as to why he kept the fact that he is Spider-Man, a secret. While doing this, Peter gets contacted by Norman once more and is alerted about the recent attack on the 110 hideout, where Lonnie is spending time. Peter works on his science project with Pearl, who is upset that Lonnie is hiding things from her so Peter comforts her. Later when Spider-Man arrives at the 110, he finds Pearl there who has been told by Lonnie's brother that he is part of the 110 gang, which causes the couple to break up afterwards, and saves her from being hurt. Spider-Man battles the Scorpion, but the suit is severely damaged and he is impaled by the villain's tale, almost killing Parker as a result. However, Norman Osborn, who has been watching, sends his glider to rescue Parker.

In "Tangled Web", Peter is taken to Oscorp to have doctors examine him and mend his wounds, without having his identity revealed. Peter is told by Osborn to stay put for a little while so he can rest and has Harry tell May that Peter spent the night at his house so she doesn't find out what really happened. When Peter starts to feel better, he decides to leave the recovery room and hears screaming. Fearing someone is in danger, Peter runs into one of the labs to find it was one of his co-workers being excited that his magnetic generator has successfully worked. When asked what happened, Peter covers up that he was mugged and apologises to Doctor Connors about missing her lessons. Carla tells Peter it is okay, as his contribution is greatly appreciated, and tells him to rest up. Peter returns home and covers up being Spider-Man by telling May that he just fell off of Harry's skateboard, not wanting her to worry, but she tells him she is going to worry and cares deeply for him, which he reciprocates. While Peter recovers, Norman sends in Thaddeus Ross and Iron Man to deal with Doctor Octavius, as Osborn fears he is far more dangerous than the Scorpion. Although his suit is not usable now, Peter is desperate to go back out there and deal with the issues that the police have been called in for and with Harry's help, receives a new suit.

In "Hero or Menace", Spider-Man is dealing with criminals with Harry's help, in his new suit, just as school is starting. It is also about a year since Peter received his powers. Peter arrives just in time to do a presentation with Pearl and as Spider-Man, Peter meets up with Nico to explain why he kept his "other self" a secret from her, which she understands. When the 110 are later attacked by the Scorpion, Spider-Man is able to defeat him this time with the help of Lonnie, who is given super strength after liquid from a truck goes over him. Spider-Man thanks Lonnie for the help after Lonnie is able to prevent Spider-Man from killing Scorpion for revenge for almost killing him. Peter returns home later that day and spends time with May before Norman Osborn calls him to praise him for the recent events.
In the season finale, Peter visits Osborn's new warehouse with the other interns when it is attacked by a symbiote, as Doctor Strange arrives to confront Osborn, believing he is causing mayhem in the cosmos. When everyone flees because of the symbiote, Peter suits up as Spider-Man and helps Doctor Strange. The two are able to do their part as he watches Strange travel through a portal, back in time to the previous year, to the exact moment Peter was given his powers. Following their success in defeating the symbiote, Spider-Man finds Strange looking over the newly built Midtown High and Spider-Man reveals to Strange that he was there the day Strange arrived with the symbiote, after Strange questions how many lives were changed that day. As Doctor Strange travels back through a portal, Peter returns home where he and Nico convince Harry to start his own company for young geniuses, including Ned Leeds, Harry agrees and creates his own company while Peter swings around the city as Spider-Man, fully accepting his powers.
Trivia
- This incarnation is based on the counterpart from the main MCU universe, but in an alternate universe, set prior to Spider-Man's first appearance in Captain America: Civil War. Despite this, there are key similarities like when Peter Parker meets Norman Osborn at the end of the first episode, which mirrors 616 Peter meeting Tony Stark in that film. Both millionaires reveal they know Peter is Spider-Man and offers him an internship at their businesses as a cover up.
- There are references to the main universe, such as the airport battle from the third Cap film, only Peter does not partake in the fight because Iron Man did not recruit him, like in the main universe.
- In the ninth episode, Spider-Man almost impaled Scorpion with his own tail before being stopped by Lonnie, mirroring 616 Spider-Man from doing the same thing to the Green Goblin in Spider-Man: No Way Home, before Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man prevented him from doing so.
- Unlike other variants, Peter's love interest isn't a variant of Mary Jane Watson. Instead, he has feelings for Pearl Pangan, a completely different character from the comics.
- His voice actor Hudson Thames, previously voiced another variant of Spider-Man in the MCU, in the animated series, What If...? That variant was known as Zombie Hunter Spider-Man, who will return in Marvel Zombies.
- Peter gets bitten on the neck by the spider like Andrew Garfield's Spider-Man, making them currently the only incarnations of the character to receive their powers this way.
- This is the only incarnation of Peter Parker to still wear glasses after being given his powers. In other media, the spider bite enhances Peter's eye sight so glasses are no longer needed.
- According to the tie-in comic and the first episode of the series, Peter lost his uncle Ben before gaining his Spider-Man powers, whereas in other media, Peter is given his powers before his uncle's death.
- It's revealed in "If This Be My Destiny..." that Peter's father Richard Parker is alive in this universe, but in custody, although it is unknown if Peter is aware his father is alive. This makes this incarnation of Peter Parker the first to have his father alive, while he is deceased in other Spider-Man media.
