Spine is one of the five lands of Kumandra that appears in Disney's 2021 animated feature film, Raya and the Last Dragon. It is located North of Kumandra and is known for its mighty axe-bladers and snow-covered land. The land was ruled by the Spine Chief before he gets petrified by the Druun.
Background[]
After the dragon Sisu defeats the Druun using a magical orb that contained the magic of her siblings (but resulting in the Druun turning all of the dragons, except for Sisu, to stone), Sisu disappeared after using the orb and all of Kumandra were divided and wanted the power of the orb for themselves, resulting Kumanra being turned into 5 separate lands; Heart, Fang, Tail, Talon and Spine. The Land of Heart came into possession of the orb and kept it safe from anyone who wishes to possess it. 5 centuries after this, the current chief of Heart, Chief Benja invited all of the other tribes, including Spine, to his home in hopes of finally ending the rivalry.
At first, his plan goes smoothly as everybody starts to get along, but everything falls apart when Namaari princess of the Fang Tribe, tricks Benja's daughter, Raya into showing her where the orb is located and notifies her people, as well as the other tribes. As they began to fight over the orb, Benja intervenes and gives them to choice of finally unifying together and bring Kumandra back to what it once was. However, he is shot by an arrow and as the tribes fight over the orb, it is dropped on the ground and broken into five pieces. The orb's destruction causes the Druun to reappear and the tribes take their pieces separately and evacuate the island. The Spine tribe take their piece back to their land where they were soon turned to stone by the Druun with only one of them Tong surviving as he came into possession of their part of the orb.
6 years after the debacle at Heart, Spine is visited by a grown Raya and Sisu, who was brought back to life by Raya and has taken on the form of a human where they encounter Tong in his cabin, where he is hiding in to avoid the Druun. Suddenly, the land is invaded by Namaari and her army who show up to demand the pieces of the orb that Raya has collected. Raya fights Namaari to distract her in order for Tong to escape with his piece of the orb, but Sisu intervenes and turns back into her dragon form to ward off the Fang army before soon departing with Raya. Tong is forced to flee from his home to protect his part of the orb and joins forces with Raya, Sisu and their friends Boun, Noi and her Ongis to bring the pieces of the orb back together.
Later, the orb is put back together and it causes a magical storm that reverses the Druun's magic and turns everyone who was turned to stone back to normal, including Tong's people at Spine. The people of Spine and the other tribes come to Heart to celebrate, finally coming together in unity.

Trivia[]
- Similar to how the people of Fang ride large cat creatures, the people of Spine are shown to ride elephant-like creatures. As they stood next to the tribe's chief and a few of his people when they visited the Heart Land.
- Due to Spine being in an area covered in snow, it is possible Sisu's powers were not limited as snow is made out of water while the dragon was shown to not have any trouble using her powers when fighting Fang's warriors.
