"Split Decision" is the first segment of the ninety-ninth episode of Big City Greens.
Synopsis[]
Cricket gets dumped by his girlfriend, so he tries to change to win her back.
Plot[]
At school, Cricket gets a letter from Gabriella and is excited. The other kids including Community Sue have always supported "Crick-riella" due to them getting their picture in the year book as "cutest couple". When Cricket opens the letter, he discovers that Gabriella has decided to break up with him. Everyone is horrified by this news and Cricket resolves to figure out why. Remy, new to the yearbook legacy photos, discovers that kids always get their pictures of whom they are most likely or the best at. Wanting to have a legacy of his own for the book, he resolves to find something he is good at, though Sue and Tilly believe his goal is fruitless.
Cricket finds Gabriella and discovers that she has become a goth. He is perplexed by this, especially when Gabriella makes it known that she no longer has any interest in the childish pranks she used to play with Cricket. She further claims that she has "matured" and is dumping him because he still hasn't changed. Cricket approaches Gabriella later and offers that he too become goth so that they can still date. She reluctantly agrees and transitions him from his usual country appearance to an ideal goth appearance. While reluctant, Sue and Tilly allow this and continue to take photos of them as the best couple in the school.
After several failures, Sue tells Remy that he is "Mr. Doesn't Know When to Quit", and he is officially labeled as such in the year book. Cricket, realizing that he cannot follow Gabriella, plays a prank on Gregly that reverts him to his old ways. He and Gabriella have one final talk with Cricket admitting that he is okay with breaking up with her as they can still be friends. While Gabriella implies that she doesn't even want that either, she respects his decision and they break up with Cricket agreeing that dating is weird. Their goth photo ends up in the year book with them labeled as "Cutest Ex-Couple".
