Shortly afterwards, it was announced that Scoot Cooper would write, produce, and direct the feature, while Jeremy Allen White entered talks to portray Springsteen. A24 was reportedly interested in distributing the film.[1] However, 20th Century Studios ended up acquiring the film and Jeremy Strong entered talks to play Landau.[2]

Between June to November 2024, more actors joined the cast.[3][4][5][6]

Filming began on October 28, 2024.[7] Springsteen made visits to the set and met with White over his portrayal of him.[8] Filming wrapped in January 2025.

On June 18, 2025, the same day the trailer was released, the title slightly changed to Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere.

Trivia[]

  • The title specifically references the song "State Trooper" from his album Nebraska. The low key and sparse sounding song is about a driver asking a state trooper to not stop him and the frustrations that he hears on the radio. The last, intelligible, lyric in the song goes, "Hey, somebody out there / Listen to my last prayer / "Hi ho, Silver, oh!" / Deliver me from nowhere".
  • Marc Maron wanted to back out of the film as he believed that there wasn't much to Chuck Plotkin and went so far as to speak with both his manager and director Scott Cooper. As soon as Cooper told Maron that he was okay with him leaving the film, Maron immediately regretted it and decided to accept the part anyway.[9]
  • When the teaser for the movie was released, those who were unaware of the film's history or status assumed that the movie was a teaser for a new Alien or Predator film.
  • To look more like Springsteen, Jeremy Allen White dyed his hair brown, wore brown contacts, and had his eyebrows appear slightly thicker.
  • Nick Jonas had expressed interest in playing Bruce Springsteen.
  • The scene where Bruce meets up with his father who is in the midst of another episode was apparently such an emotional moment that several crew members on the film had to walk off the set. Many of them had similar issues with their paternal figure and related too closely to the moment.[10]
  • Faye Romano is not a real person and is instead an amalgam of different women Bruce had been in fleeting relationships with.
