Star is the deuteragonist of Disney's 2023 animated feature film Wish. Based on the "wishing stars" featured in past Disney fairytales, it is depicted as a childlike being with magical abilities.
Though Star is a celestial body who lived for eons, Star has the mind and heart of a child. This is most likely to reflect the dreams and hopes humans possess within their hearts. Star is very energetic and friendly, quickly making friends with Asha after hearing her wish.
Star is also a very kind and empathetic individual, showing kindness to Simon by gifting him a makeshift heart after seeing his drowsy eyes from when he gave his wish to King Magnifico, and is extremely sweet to Asha and those closest to her.
Physical appearance[]
Star is a small spherical yellow star with a lighter heart-shaped face with orange eyes and a small orange mouth.
Powers and abilities[]
Magic: As a literal celestial body, Star possesses magical powers. Though the powers are limited, such as not being able to grant wishes. Star can bring inanimate objects such as plants and mushrooms to life, and give animals the ability to speak by sprinkling its magic dust over them.
Flight: Star can fly at super fast speeds, able to fly and float stealthily through the air, without getting caught by humans.
Star first appears as an Easter egg during the end credits of Strange World, similar to other recent films from Disney Animation foreshadowing the films that will follow them in their end credits.
Earlier iterations of Star depicted the character as a shapeshifter, being able to transform into animals and humans. The idea was scrapped in order to simplify the character.
Another scrapped concept involved Star appearing as a physical manifestation of Asha's grandfather.
Star's final design, particularly the character's facial features, were inspired by Mickey Mouse.
Star is similar in appearance to Lumas from Super Mario Galaxy.
