Stheno is a gorgon and the elder sister of Medusa and Euryale, and an antagonist from the Hercules franchise.
Appearances
Hercules
In the film, Hades sends her, the Minotaur, and the Griffin to gang up on Hercules, but all 3 of them were defeated by a punch each from Hercules in less than a few seconds. Stheno was the last one knocked on the pile, squashing both the Minotaur and the Griffin below her.
Hercules (TV series)
Stheno makes an appearance in the episode "Hercules and the Phil Factor", voiced by Andrea Martin. When Philoctetes comes to the gorgon's residence looking to sell spears, Stheno answers the door with a hiss and growl, which frightens Phil away from her.
Trivia
- In the original storyboard for "Zero to Hero", Stheno and the Griffin were replaced respectively by a giant lobster and a huge green fish with a unicorn horn who helped the Minotaur fight Hercules.
- Stheno, however, did fight Hercules in one scene of the demo version. In that scene, she was firing a green beam from her left hand when Hercules came from behind and tied her snakes into knots. The vase showing the result of the fight showed that Stheno's snakes were tangled around her head and twisted into 6 stacked loops that reached near the top of the vase, leaving her powerless.
- This scene replaced the one where Hercules fought Ceto.

- This character also appears under the name "Medusa" in tie-in games from the original film. However, the animated series, which distinguishes the two, is considered to take canonical precedent over these.
