"Stormy" is the third episode of The Little Mermaid TV series, originally aired on September 19, 1992.
Plot
During one of Ariel's swims, she accidentally stumbles upon a Giant Seahorse corral, which is kept just outside of the city. In it, she sees Stormy, a magnificent purple Giant Seahorse whom she's told is too wild to tame. Ariel finds herself sympathizing with Stormy, whom she feels is a kindred spirit, desperate to roam free.
Asking Triton for permission to have Stormy turns out to be a bad idea, because he laughs in her face (literally) and then forbids her from going near the Giant Seahorse, whom he says is just too wild. He even reminds her about the Baby Killer Whale Incident. The scene is actually almost exactly like the one in the film, right down to Triton's choice of words and Ariel sniffling with tears and swimming off. Ariel sneaks out to see Stormy anyway, and eventually releases Stormy from his ropes, and they ride off together. Ariel takes Stormy out one night and gets lost in the wilderness. Two octopus cowboys attempt to wrangle Stormy, but are somewhat unsuccessful.
Triton finds out what Ariel has done, and rides off on his own white stallion, with Sebastian, Flounder, and the corral master in tow. Elsewhere, Ariel finds out that Stormy wants to go to the wilderness. They free Stormy after Ariel agrees, and Triton gives Ariel another seahorse that he thinks is more her style.
