- “With the Strake at my side, no one will ever defy me again.”
- ―Lord Fathom
The Strake is a three-headed sea monster that appears in Disney Junior animated TV series Jake and the Never Land Pirates.
Background
Lord Fathom, the evil mer-wizard, once controlled the mighty Strake using the power of the Darklight Emerald in his first attempt to defeat King Neptune, but with the combined efforts of Neptune and Captain Colossus, they sealed both the Strake and Lord Fathom. The Strake was locked away deep within Dreadnought Cove for years to come.
Personality
The Strake is the most fearsome beast in the Never Sea; it is infamous for its savage nature and destructive tendencies, and is almost impervious to damage thanks to its tough scales. Because of this, the Strake is almost indomitable by others even if it had once served them, however, an exceptional amount of power from the Darklight Emerald is one way to get the Strake obey another in the case of Lord Fathom.
Appearances
Jake and the Never Land Pirates
The Strake appears in the episode special The Great Never Sea Conquest. Lord Fathom sets out to take over the Never Sea when he's released from an underwater prison by awakening the legendary giant three-headed serpent, the Strake. When the League of Never Sea Captains (consisting of Jake, Captain Hook, Captain Flynn, Captain Frost, and Beatrice Le Beak), try to defeat him, they are unsuccessful, as Lord Fathom is able to release the Strake and places it under his control. Soon, a battle erupts between the Strake and the League's battleship, the Mighty Colossus. Suddenly, King Neptune appears and tells Jake that all he needs to do is believe in himself to defeat Fathom and the Strake. Jake finally defeats Fathom and the Strake using the powers of his sword. The Strake is also re-imprisoned by Jake after Jake destroys the Darklight Emerald, freeing the Strake from Fathom's control. While Fathom and Sinker are chased away by the various creatures of the Never Sea, the crooked duo find safety inside Dreadnaught Cove where Fathom recovers a piece of the Darklight Emerald. As Fathom plots his revenge on all of Never Land, the Strake suddenly appears from behind the stone door of Dreadnought Cove and roars in anger, sending Lord Fathom and Sinker fleeing from it in terror.
