"Stuffy's Safari" is the one hundred twenty-fifth episode of Doc McStuffins. It premiered on June 22, 2019, and is the sixth episode in the fifth season.
Plot[]
Doc tells Sally the giraffe that she's healthy as an ox. Chilly wonders if she is a giraffe or an ox with a really long neck. Sally thanks everyone for the checkup, as it was nice not to have to schlep out of the jungle to see Doc. Lambie states that the Safari Medical Camp was Doc's idea. Sally will see them next year. Doc states that more toys in the jungle need checkups. Hallie then brings out a mama kangaroo and her joey, whose name is Frank. The toys like the kangaroo's own built-in baby carrier. Stuffy wishes he looked just like anyone else. He explains himself to Frank, who has never seen a dragon before.
Doc then gives the kangaroo, her joey, and more animals checkups. Doc tells the mother monkey that due to her tightened suction cups, she doesn't have to worry about anything or anyone falling off. The mother monkey can now teach her baby how to climb. Stuffy tries it but quickly slips. The mother monkey tells Stuffy to not expect to get it right on his first try, as it took her a lot of time. Teaching monkeys is something monkey toys pass down through their families. As for dragons, they teach each other how to fly. Stuffy claims he doesn't have a dragon family when Hallie comes with an elephant who asks about the legend of Dragon Mountain. Deep in the jungle, high in the mist-filled mountains, a family of wild dragons roam free. Stuffy likes it, but the elephant tells him that it's just an old jungle story and it may or may not be true.
Later, Doc gives the elephant a checkup, and he is in great condition. Since he is an elephant, if he is going to take a long, difficult journey somewhere, he would go to Elephant Valley, which is where his family lives, and everyone has a family somewhere. The elephant leaves and Stuffy goes with him. The elephant introduces himself as Trudge. Stuffy asks him how to get to Dragon Mountain. Trudge tells Stuffy to go deep in the jungle and then high in the mist-filled mountains. Trudge then draws Stuffy a map. Stuffy is excited about the family of other dragons like him teaching him how to fly. As Trudge draws the map, he states that this is only what he heard, and that only the bravest should attempt it, like Stuffy. If Stuffy goes into a dark cave, he'll go too far, or maybe he should go in the cave. Stuffy is excited about what he'll do in Dragon Mountain, including being taught how to plan. Trudge wishes him luck.
Stuffy wears his clothes for the trip and sings about being at home when he makes it to Dragon Mountain. He leaves a note to let everyone know he is gone before going to the mountain. As Doc and the toys are about to head home to McStuffinsville, they notice Stuffy missing. Doc sees the note Stuffy left and Hallie and Lambie are worried. Doc recaps Stuffy being really interested in finding other dragon toys like him. Hallie states that Stuffy can't go on a trip across the jungle and up to the top of a mountain all alone. Doc and the toys decide to help him, and Chilly states that although it may be scary, he decides to go along.
Doc and the toys take a vehicle to find Stuffy, who comes across two paths. Although Doc tells Stuffy that it's not safe to travel through a jungle by himself, Stuffy is on his way to Dragon Mountain and rejects help. Stuffy continues his way to the mountain when he gets stuck in a bed of glitter quicksand. Doc and the toys rescue him by releasing a rope which Stuffy grabs and heads into a tree before landing. Stuffy still rejects help. Doc decides to go talk to him, and wonders what's going on. Stuffy states he doesn't know any other dragons like him and he never had a dragon family. He really wonders what that would be like. Stuffy rejects help as he doesn't want to put his friends in danger looking for his family. Doc tells him that if he needs her and the other toys, he should just call via a toysponder.
Stuffy almost heads into the glitter quicksand but stops just in time. As he continues his journey, Doc tells the toys that Stuffy should do this himself. Although Chilly doesn't want to go into the jungle, he doesn't want Stuffy to be all alone if he needs help. Doc decides for her and the toys to stick by Stuffy and be right behind him every step of the way. Stuffy soon comes across a river and uses leaves from a tree and logs to make a raft and head across the river. The current is fast, and Stuffy is heading for alligators. He uses a vine to pull himself to safety before the raft got eaten. Doc and the toys come to the rescue and catch Stuffy in time. Stuffy states the trip is too hard and wonders what would happen to Doc and the toys, and that's exactly how they feel about him. Stuffy thanks them for that. Doc and the toys decide to give Stuffy a lift past the gators, and they decide to feed them coconuts. They then continue across the river and Stuffy soon sees Dragon Mountain.
Stuffy decides for Doc and the toys to come with them the rest of the way. They make their way across a wooden bridge, and Chilly is afraid of heights, drops, bridges, and ropes. Doc will stay with Chilly while the others make their way across the bridge. As Stuffy wonders what the other dragons will teach him, a plank falls loose, leaving him hanging. Doc and the toys rescue him again, and Stuffy realizes it isn't an easy trip. They decide to stay close to each other.
After making it past the bridge, Stuffy states that dragons are on the other side of the bushes. Stuffy wonders if they don't like him, but Doc reassures him that they will like him. Everyone then heads to the dragons, who welcome them to Dragon Mountain. They are Komodo dragons. When Stuffy thinks about it, everything that's different is more alike. Doc observes that the Komodo dragons are charging their batteries, as they are solar-powered. The dragon wonders if any toy that dreams a dream be said to be flying. The dragons don't know how to fly, just like Stuffy, who tells everyone about the dragons not what he thought they'd be. They aren't like him at all. Stuffy decides to be alone while Doc and the toys notice how different the Komodo dragons are from Stuffy. With darkness approaching, Doc and the toys decide to find Stuffy and bring him back to camp.
So far, there is no sign of Stuffy aside from wings made of leaves. Hallie has seen Stuffy use them to try to fly before. Doc and the toys follow the leaves to Stuffy, who heads to the top of the mountain in an attempt to fly. The leaves fall down, and it's coming from Stuffy, who tries to fly but instead falls on Chilly. Doc apologizes to Stuffy, who just wanted to find some dragons who would teach them how to fly. Stuffy really wanted to find other dragons like him, as he wanted to have a family. Doc states that a family is very nice thing to have, as they will go with Stuffy anywhere and cheer him up whenever he's sad. Stuffy realizes that Doc and the toys have always been there for him throughout his whole life. Doc states that friends can be like a family, even if they don't look alike. They just have to love each other, and Doc and the toys sing about how love makes a family and brings them all together.
Stuffy thanks everyone, and realizes his trip to find a family worked after all, as he had his family with him the whole time. He apologizes that they had to go all the way to Dragon Mountain for him to figure that out. With dark coming, Stuffy apologizes for everyone being stuck. They are a family, and they follow each other everywhere. This is a great time for Stuffy to learn how to fly. Soon, Doc and the toys ride a zip-line all the way back to camp.
