"Summer of Breaking Bud" is the second segment of the seventeenth episode of the Disney Channel animated series Primos.

Synopsis[]

Tater learns about Cousin Bud's dark capitalist past.

Plot[]

Tater is attempting to get a tiger sticky paw from a toy machine at the arcade. As the primos leave to let Tater waste her life savings on it, Cousin Bud approaches her. He reveals that long ago he was once a capitalist obsessed young man named Cousin Buck who could close any deal and made numerous connections. One day, he realized that he was hurting nature around him and turned his back on his work and decided to devote himself to being a nature lover. He tells Tater that he will help her get her sticky paw, but says that she must stop him if he goes too far. Tater agrees and Cousin Bud transforms into Cousin Buck. Nachito also tags along for fun.

"Cousin Buck" proceeds to go from supplier to supplier, eventually going all the way down to Garage Possum who is revealed to have the tiger sticky paw that Tater wanted. When Tater discovers that there are more sticky paws to collect, Cousin Buck coerces Tater into acquiring his help to collect them all, roping in the other primos to help sell and trade sticky paws. Nachito begins to fall behind as he fails to sell or buy any sticky paws. While Tater continues to show compassion towards him, Cousin Buck begins to become crueler and more distant towards the younger primo when he fails to close deals for him.

The primos throw a party to celebrate their collection of sticky paws, but when Nachito tries to have a paleta, Buck refuses him. The primos turn on Buck who turns into a monster. Realizing that his man bun is what is causing this, Tater and the primos work together to help bring him back to normal. Using one of the sticky paws, Tater is able to destroy the man bun and return Cousin Buck to Cousin Bud. He apologizes for acting out of line and promises to be a nature lover again. Just then, Buela comes out, having apparently fallen for a scam. This causes Cousin Bud to react and a narrator comes in questioning whether he will revert to Cousin Buck again.

Cast[]

Trivia[]

  • The title is a reference to the AMC series Breaking Bad. This would make it the second episode to reference the series after "Summer of Los Pollos Hermanos".
  • The sound effect of Pac-Man dying is heard in the arcade.
  • The episode makes several references to Glengarry Glen Ross.
