"Summon the Suit" is the second episode of the Disney+ streaming television miniseries Moon Knight and was released on April 6, 2022. It was written by Michael Kastelein and directed by Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead.

Synopsis[]

With little time to react, Steven is thrust into a war of the gods as a mysterious partner arrives.

Plot[]

Steven awakens in his bed, now aware of what happened the previous night and quickly heads to work to find that workmen are now fixing the harshly damaged restrooms. He tries to get security guard J.B. to look over the surveillance footage from last night, but the jackal monster is not visible on the cameras and the footage only shows Steven without the suit on. Now knowing that he was involved with the restroom damages, the museum director Dornfeld sympathetically puts him on leave and offers him psychological help by giving him a pamphlet.

Wanting to be rid of what is happening to him, Steven uses the key he found in his wall to locate the storage space where he discovers that it contains mercenary and army equipment, as well as the scarab. Steven speaks with Marc Specter, via his reflection, who tries to convince him to put everything away and let him take control, but he refuses, instead grabbing the items in a duffle bag and fleeing, only to run into Layla El-Faouly, who turns out to be Marc's partner and wife. She has been looking for him and takes him back to his apartment.

Steven is unable to convince Layla that he is not Marc, though she notes that many of the things he collects are her interests rather than Marc's and is further devastated to learn that they are in the middle of divorcing. Two DCs, Bobbi and Billy, arrive and take Steven away, but not before Layla takes the scarab and hides. Steven soon realizes that Bobbi and Billy are actually working under Harrow and take him directly to see him. Harrow tells Steven about Ammit and tries to convince him that she is to bring true justice, though Steven notes a flaw in their desires.

Layla arrives, with the scarab, to rescue Steven and the two flee as Harrow summons another jackal creature. The jackal pushes Steven out the window who transforms into Mr. Knight, his own personalized version of the suit. Despite displaying enhanced reflexes, he is incapable of fighting the creature and Steven lets Marc take over as Moon Knight; leading the creature away before impaling it onto a spike. Marc accidentally leaves the scarab behind as Harrow claims it while Layla also flees after witnessing him take it.

Steven, now in the reflection, bemoans being locked away in an inescapable purgatory. Marc tries to tell him that he is doing it for a good cause as he is now an avatar for Khonshu and is trying to complete his will, adding that he can have his body back once he is finished with defeating Harrow and Ammit. After silencing Steven, Khonshu approaches Marc by reminding him that he needs to keep up his end of the bargain, otherwise he will go after Layla who he will choose as his second avatar should Marc fail in his mission.
