The Swamp Gators (also known as Ian and Marlon) are minor antagonists in Disney's 2009 feature film The Princess and the Frog. Hostile and ravenous, they try to eat Tiana and Naveen when they arrive in the bayou.
Ian and Marlon have wild, vicious, hot-tempered, impatient, and temperamental personalities, alongside the other alligators. They are shown to be hungry whenever prey arrives in their territory and they are impatient to get angry easily, when their prey escapes from them.
Role in the film
Ian and Marlon appeared in the swamp and try to eat Tiana and Naveen after being ambushed by a hostile heron, alongside various alligators. Thinking the hard ground is a log, a float of alligators approaches the two and the ground they are at is Ian's tail. However, Tiana manages to hide into a tree bark in order to hide from the alligators just as she notices them attacking Naveen. Naveen reluctantly asks Tiana for help, but Tiana refuses at first. However, upon noticing Marlon preparing to eat Naveen, Tiana agrees to help him after he hastily promises to grant her her dream restaurant if she helps him escape the bayou, causing the gators to get angry and finally give up and retreat. No other gators besides Louis (who shows a friendly personality rather than a hostile personality to the frogs) appear for the remainder of the film.
- Marlon's voice actor, Emeril Lagasse, also starred in the long-running Food Network show, Emeril.
