Swisskapolka is the trademark song originally composed for the Disneyland attraction Swiss Family Treehouse in Adventureland by Buddy Baker. The song is heard coming out of a pipe organ in the mother's den of the treehouse. It is also heard at similar versions of the attraction at Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World in Florida, and Disneyland Paris. When the Disneyland version was rethemed into Tarzan's Treehouse, the polka could be heard coming from a gramophone in tribute to the original version. In 2023, when the treehouse was once again retooled as Adventureland Treehouse, the polka was brought back, only this time, the organ was enhanced with several other mechanical instruments, such as a fiddle, a guitar, a harp, and percussion.
The song is also quoted in the short Yodelberg for the 2013 Disney Channel Mickey Mouse series of shorts.
Lyrics[]
While the song is heard instrumentally, the lyrics, written by Bob Jackman, are printed on the sheet music on the stand of the organ in Adventureland Treehouse:
Round and 'round the world we go,
The world we go, with heel and toe
'Round and 'round and to and fro,
It's swisskapolka time
Take a partner by the hand,
She'll understand, she'll understand
When you hear that happy band,
It's swisskapolka time
Find out what a little dance can do,
For that pretty little gal with you
She'll be happy as the melody,
Dancing busy as a bumblebee
So up and down and all around,
The world we go with heel and toe
Back and forth and to and fro,
It's swisskapolka time
