"Taily" is the first segment of the thirty-seventh episode of the Disney Channel animated series Kiff.
Synopsis[]
Kiff runs for class president against a surprise candidate, Mr. RiPeppa.
Plot[]
While waiting for a Table Town Middle School assembly to start, Kiff entertains her schoolmates by performing a ventriloquist act with her tail, whom she names "Taily". During the assembly, Principal Secretary announces the forthcoming election for class president and opens the floor for nominations. Hearing this, Mr. RiPeppaquickly leaves the gym. Candle, Reggie, and Barry are all nominated, but when Barry cedes his nomination to Kiff instead, Candle and Reggie immediately drop out of the race. Thinking she is running unopposed, Kiff addresses the audience and pledges to still do her best to earn their votes. After the assembly, however, it turns out that RiPeppa, despite being a teacher, has also entered the race and already put up posters for his campaign.
Kiff and Barry, serving as Kiff's campaign manager, meet with Principal Secretary in his office, where he consults the school rulebook and confirms that teachers are technically not forbidden from running for class president. Principal Secretary correctly guesses that RiPeppa is only running in order to obtain the ergonomic chair that the class president is entitled to, which he has been eyeing for years. Later at the Buns residence, while Kiff and Barry are brainstorming campaign ideas, Trevorvisits and offers them a "savage" ad he has made for them to use against RiPeppa, but the duo decline, wanting to run a clean campaign. As the week goes on, Kiff hands out campaign buttons to her schoolmates and builds a comfortable lead in the polls, while RiPeppa merely dozes off in the faculty lounge. RiPeppa eventually wakes up and finds Kiff's campaign in full swing, so he resorts to hijacking the PA system in Principal Secretary's office and announcing multiple extravagant and unrealistic campaign promises.
With Kiff now down in the polls, Trevor again offers her his attack ad on RiPeppa. He plays her the ad, which turns out to be a cheap video in which Trevor plays a waiter and offers pepper to Candle, played by a doll, who refuses it and puns on RiPeppa's name by saying that "Peppa stinks". Finding the ad unusable, Kiff again declines, but the conversation is overheard by a gathered crowd of students, who want to see the "savage" ad. At Barry's urging, Kiff tries to engage with the students instead, only to find that she can only get through to them by speaking to them in character as "Taily". Now tied in the polls, Kiff and RiPeppa participate in a debate, where Kiff is again forced to use her Taily persona to win the audience over. RiPeppa attempts to pull a similar gimmick with his own tail, but the audience boos his act as derivative.
After the election, Principal Secretary counts the votes in his office and reports that RiPeppa received no votes. Kiff and Barry celebrate Kiff's assumed victory, but Principal Secretary then reports that Kiff only got two votes, as everybody else voted for "Taily" rather than her. Kiff tries to decline the presidential position on Taily's behalf, but Principal Secretary declares that the voters have spoken and takes Kiff by the tail to seat the new president down on the ergonomic chair. Nonetheless, Kiff then decrees Taily's first official act to be making Kiff president instead, and Principal Secretary is unable to find anything in the school rulebook forbidding this. Kiff and Barry later ride the chair down a hallway, passing by an annoyed RiPeppa sitting in his classroom.
