Surname[]

Any sources as to if Mulan later became Li Mulan? Because in Chinese culture, if there was only one person in the family to carry on the family name, even if it was a girl, the man would take the woman's surname. So wouldn't she still be Fa Mulan and Shang would be Fa Shang? —Jiyanamiki ❤ 03:43, June 18, 2011 (UTC)

Personally, I think their names should just remain as is; Fa Mulan and Li Shang, because no other website or source says either of their names have changed in the film. Quintonium 12:21, June 18, 2011 (UTC)

I agree. Since there's no official sources that later state she becomes Li Mulan, and since she most likely wouldn't change her name anyway, I'll remove it. —Jiyanamiki ❤ 06:18, June 19, 2011 (UTC)

Possibly she could be Fa-Li Mulan since they merged family temples. A lot of times in China, women did not change their last name but could add on the other last name when married if they want to. However, she is known as Fa Mulan mainly because that is the original and there is not much of her out there being married.
