Trivia[]
- This episode features the first appearance of Tublat.
- Given that this episode depicts the family's first encounter with Tublat since his banishment, it likely belongs chronologically among the first few episodes in the series.
- Despite this, this episode is ironically among the final episodes in terms of broadcast order, due to the episodes were aired out of order.
- The flashback sequence involving Tublat is very likely to take place around the same time as (or very shortly before) the musical number "Son of Man" from the first film, not unlike the midquel film Tarzan II, as in this flashback Flynt and Mungo already knew Tarzan by then, as evident when the two gorillas cheered for Tarzan for throwing coconuts at Tublat to help Kerchak. In addition, Kerchak ungratefully shuns Tarzan for helping the latter, likely due to Kerchak being still sore at Tarzan over the elephant stampede he inadvertently created due to Terk's influence.
- During the flashback, Tublat said to Kerchak, before he leaves, "You won't live forever, Kerchak. This tribe will be mine." This could strongly imply that Tublat is younger than Kerchak.
- In the flashback, Kerchak is seen beating his chest with his fists (as in many gorillas as depicted in both popular culture and public imagination) after defeating Tublat, rather than with his palms like gorillas do in real life.
- This episode shows the running gag regarding Terk's gender, everyone mistaking her to be male and are surprised to learn she is actually female.
- Near the end of the episode, when Jane and Professor Porter make a makeshift rope to escape from the flooded cave using the former's yellow shirt and the latter's white shirt, Jane is revealed to be wearing her light green tank top underneath her yellow shirt, meaning that Jane's tank top is technically her underwear.
- In some later episodes such as "Tarzan and the Rift" and "Tarzan and the Leopard Men Rebellion", Jane is seen wearing this light green tank top without her yellow shirt over it, likely due to the hotter weather climates in these episodes.
- In the episode "Tarzan and the Challenger", Jane is seen wearing this light green tank top as her sleepwear.
- When Tarzan does his signature jungle call by the waterfall after Tublat's defeat at the ending, the shot looks identical to the one seen in the show's intro sequence.
- Based on the skeletons littering in Tublat's cave, it is possible that Tublat may have either turned or has always been more carnivorous than the other gorillas. This is supported when Tarzan attempts to use a bone against him, he easily chomps it in half, demonstrating his possible ease with taking down potential prey.
- Given that Tublat seems unfaced by the Porters' presence during their first meeting, it can be inferred that Tublat found other humans in the jungle during his exile.
- Jane's mother is mentioned in this episode.
- Jane wears her hair in a bun at the start of this episode.
Goofs[]
- Near the end of the episode, when Jane and Professor Porter make a makeshift rope to escape from the flooded cave using the former's yellow shirt and the latter's white shirt, Professor Porter appears shirtless. But after escaping from the cave at the ending, Professor Porter got his shirt back, but Jane didn't.
