"Tarzan and the Challenger" is the twentieth episode of The Legend of Tarzan. It originally aired on UPN on September 25, 2001.
Synopsis[]
A giant python named Hista is terrorizing the gorillas and Tarzan's leadership of the family is challenged by Moyo, who felt that Tarzan was "neglectful" of the gorilla tribe for arriving too late to save them. In response, Tarzan temporarily gives up his position as leader of the gorillas to Moyo after losing the leadership challenge. Tarzan and Moyo must fight together to defeat Hista and save the family.

- When Jane draws a sketch of the family portrait depicting her, Tarzan and the gorillas to express how she misses the gorillas, the portrait depicts Jane wearing her yellow formal dress from the beginning of the original film, despite Jane herself seldom wearing that dress in the series.
- Surprisingly, Kerchak and Professor Porter are the only ones that are noticeably absent from the family portrait.
