"Temple Frogs" is the second segment of the forty-fourth episode of Amphibia.
Synopsis[]
The Boonchuys take the Plantars to the Thai Temple, but Anne tries to sneak out of the temple so she can meet up with Dr. Jan. Meanwhile, a dangerous enemy plots a surprise attack.
Plot[]
Anne gets a message from Dr. Jan about her discovery and prepares to drag the Plantars to the museum to find out what it is. However, her parents stop her to inform her that they will be heading to the Thai Temple to exchange food, as well as return some dishes. Anne refuses to go, but she is not given any option whatsoever, especially when the Plantars appear to be more interested in wanting to go to the temple to see what they have to offer. This is especially difficult, given Anne's five month absence and her fellow classmates trying to snap photos of her. Mrs. Boonchuy tells her that she simply needs to stay for one hour and then she can go to the museum.
At the temple, Anne believes that the Plantars will grow bored, but allows them to roam. She starts offering food samples and gets hounded by acquaintances and friends who have not seen her. In the meantime, Polly enters a Thai language class and is revealed to be very fluent for the other kids; Hop Pop discovers khon dance and finally gets appreciation for his own dance moves while Sprig comes across a game of Sepak takraw (kick volleyball) and is shown to be a natural. Anne grows frustrated with the time and sneaks away. As she prepares to get the Plantars, she is surprised at how much they enjoy being involved with Thai culture and decides to leave them be while she steps out.
Anne runs into her mother who scolds her for sneaking away. It is revealed that the dishes she was returning were from their neighbors who were comforting her after Anne's disappearance. Realizing she was being a jerk, Anne apologizes, only for the temple to be attacked by dragonfly drones from the Cloak-Bot. Anne, claiming that they are from her middle school, fights them off with the Plantars, but are joined by the rest of the community who help her. They too, see the Plantars' true self, but agree to keep it a secret. Anne decides to stay, when Dr. Jan arrives with the jar and hidden message. Using Marcy's journal, they learn the message says "Seek the Mother of Olms she will guide you to your destiny", but they do not know what it means.
