The Ten Rings are powerful objects featured in Marvel media. They are the signature weapon of the Mandarin. Coming from another galaxy, the Ten Rings give vast cosmic powers to whoever wields them. In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Xu Wenwu (the MCU's version of the Mandarin) named his terrorist organization "the Ten Rings" after the cosmic weapon.
In the comics, the Ten Rings were worn on each of the Mandarin's fingers and each possessed their own special power. This was changed in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings by producer Jonathan Schwartz to avoid any comparison or similarity to the Infinity Gauntlet as the Infinity Stones play a similar role. Instead they are worn on his wrists based on the Hung Gar's Iron Rings as a reference to Chinese culture in order to re-enforce the image of the film as a martial arts film.[1]
Trivia[]
In Shang-Chi vol. 2 #11 (2022), writer Gene Luen Yang created a version of the Ten Rings which was inspired by the movie.
When Wenwu wears the rings, they have a blue glow, but when Shang-Chi and his mother wore them, the glow is golden. It's possible the Ten Rings can determine the alignment of the wearer. The blue glow is a force of evil and the golden glow is a force of good.
