- “Pretty soon, organizations like this won't have to rely on you to bankroll clean-up anymore. The unstable status quo will be greatly tempered, now that the Sokovia Accords are in effect.”
- ―Thaddeus Ross[src]
Thaddeus Ross is a character who appears in the Marvel Comics animated series Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, set in a different universe to Earth-616, based on his live-action counterpart.
Thaddeus Ross was created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby.
Background[]
Just like his live-action counterpart in 2015, Thaddeus Ross is the Secretary of State. Days after the events of the first episode, Ross ordered the Avengers to sign the Sokovia accords after they caused destruction in that location. These orders from Ross caused the Avengers to split, with Iron Man forming his team of those who agreed to sign the accords, while Captain America did not agree, forming his own team, which lead to an airport battle between both sides of the Avengers, which caused them to split up.
Role in the series[]
Thaddeus debuts in "Duel With the Devil", where he meets with Norman Osborn after hearing about Doctor Otto Octavius' downfall. After Spider-Man is badly injured by the Scorpion, Norman contacts Ross to help take down Octavius, who then contacts Iron Man to arrest the scientist.
Trivia[]
- This incarnation of the character is based on William Hurt's portrayal of the character. This is because William Hurt portrayed the character in Captain America: Civil War, which this series' time frame is set around, which happened in 2016.
