The Ballad of Nessie is an animated short that was released theatrically with Winnie the Pooh. It premiered on March 5, 2011 at Anima 2011, an International Animation Film Festival in Brussels, Belgium before its full theatrical release with Pooh.

The short was directed by Stevie Wermers-Skelton and Kevin Deters and the short itself is narrated by Billy Connolly.


When the lake monster Nessie is forced out of her home by a greedy developer wanting to turn her home into a miniature golf course, she travels through Scotland to find a new home.

Behind the Scenes

The look of the film was specifically designed to capture the feel of 1940s and 1950s Disney shorts, particularly The Legend of Sleepy Hollow and Johnny Appleseed along with some influence from the art of Mary Blair and Ward Kimball.
