"The Best of Nin-tensions" is the second segment of the fifth episode of the Disney Channel animated series, The Ghost and Molly McGee.

On October 6, 2021, the episode was released early on Disney+.

Synopsis[]

Molly senses tension between her mom and grandma Nin, so she takes it upon herself to identify the source of the conflict and mend the rift.

Plot[]

Molly tells her mother, Sharon, that she has noticed that she has been dodgy with Grandma Nin lately, so she took the liberty of inviting her over to stay for a couple of days. This news shocks Sharon who does not want to be around her mother. Molly, Darryl and Scratch (the latter of whom is revealed to adore Nin for her snacks) happily greets her at the door while Pete is given a durian, a fruit he is unfamiliar with. When Sharon comes to greet her mother, it quickly becomes apparent that their relationship is strained. Scratch pays no mind to this, but Molly points out that if their relationship is not fixed, they might not be able to make up and Nin will never visit them again, scaring Scratch.

Meanwhile, Pete and Darryl open the durian and discover its pungent smell. Pete tells Molly to not bother with "the tensions" between Sharon and Nin and Darryl tries the durian to discover that he likes it, prompting Pete to pay him so that he can eat the whole thing before Nin leaves. Molly and Scratch set up a series of activities and events for Sharon and Nin to do together, but they all end badly for everyone involved. After talking to Pete again, he finally goes and tells Sharon that she needs to confront her mother on what is bothering them. Molly sees their wedding photo and comes to the conclusion that Nin is upset that Pete and Sharon eloped without a proper wedding and decides to rectify this.

Molly sets up a traditional Thai wedding in the backyard. Convinced that this will make Nin happy, Sharon and Pete decide to go through with it, but Nin begins to nitpick at minor things about Sharon, resulting in the whole thing falling to shambles. Nin prepares to leave for good, but Molly stops her and forces the two to make up. Sharon says that Nin wanted her to finish law school, but that she gave it up for art. Nin admits that she was upset because she gave up her dream as an artist. They finally make up. As Nin leaves she gives Pete another durian and gives Sharon her art brushes to remind her of her passion. As she leaves by taxi, Scratch tries to remind her to send them more of her snacks.
