"The Bewildering Bout of the Astounding Automatons" is the sixth episode of the second season of Penn Zero: Part-Time Hero. It premiered on July 13, 2017.
Synopsis[]
Boone and Larry are steampunk inventors and one of them has to win the boxing automaton match.
Plot[]
The episode starts outside Middleburg Central High, where a fundraising car wash is staking place. Larry is washing a car, saying this was a good idea and that he loves giving late things for free. Old Man Middleburg asks Larry if he means he will give him his mansion he was forced to sell to him when he fell on hard times, which Larry responds him saying not today. Old Man Middleburg then drives away saddened. Rippen is resting on a tree as Penn, with a ladder, and Boone, with a bucket, come mear to pull a prank to him. Boone wears his bucket, filled with water, like a backpack and thinks about calling it "buckpack" before he climbs up the ladder, but the ladder loses balance and falls on top of Boone and Penn, spilling the water. Rippen mocks at the two, but, however, when Larry used a makeshift seesaw to wash the car's roof, the bucket used to fling Larry flings away from the seesaw, landing on Rippen's head, making him wet.
Outside The Odyssey, Penn jokingly calls Boone's bucket backpack a "terrible idea courtesy of Boone Incorporated", but tells that Rippen still got soaked because of Larry, jokingly calling him "Rippen's Boone", before they zap in.
Boone zaps as a spiky-haired inventor in a lab that reminds him of his grandma's garage. Boone sees what appears to be a music box nearby, so he winds the machine up, revealing Sashi as the machine. Sashi then tells the missions; they are in the city of Retrofuturopolis, where Boone is an inventor while Sashi is a mechano-brain engine. Boone has to build an automaton to fight an evil inventor's automaton in a boxing match. If the evil inventor's automaton wins, it will get mass produced so that they can takr over the city. Boone asks her where is Penn, so Sashi responds to him by telling him that Penn is the automaton he has to build, shocking Boone. Mayor DiReginald Hindenburg brings Larry, being the evil inventor, to his lab and asks him if he could build his automaton by his side before flying out of the lab using his balloon. Sashi tries to tell Boone he can't let Larry in his lab before her power runs out and deactivates.
Larry tells Boone it feels lonely without Rippen, so Boone tells him it feels quiet without Penn, but it is good since they can focus on building the automatons. Larry tells him that, in the movies, characters are always carrying a plant when they get fired, but are never seen carrying one, and that's why he carried a box with plants to his lab and gives Boone one of the plants. Boone tells Larry Penn never gave him a plant, so Larry responds him saying Rippen never thanked him for a plant and he is so insecure that he acts Larry is annoying him. Boone tells Larry Penn also acted like that when he sold his stuff online, so Larry responds him Rippen also acted when he sold his stuff online too.
In a montage, Boone and Larry are messing with machines in the lab, such as using mechanic chairs to launch temselves at each other's chairs, skateboarding and jumping around on springs. The two then fly on a balloon airship, but a couple, flying on a helicopter, fly just above the two, causing the balloon to get damaged and, therefore, making the airship crash down. The two then use a Rude Goldberg vending machine to buy a snack, but the snack doesn't come out, so they push the machine off the ledge, causing it to explode and releasing all of its snacks.
Boone and Larry are eating the snacks while Boone tells him how Finland should be called "Finwater", as fishes leave on water not on land. Larry tells him Rippen is wrong about him being a dimwit, so he responds him saying Penn should take him more seriously and that he called him "Rippen's Boone" earlier. Larry chuckles and tells him that if he lets him beat his automaton, Rippen would never let him live it down, so Boone responds him it is the same thing for him with Penn and both start laughing. However, they remember that they have to build the automatons for the match, so they start building at night.
At the boxing match, which is hovering midair via propellers, Boone and Larry reveal their automatons, who are deactivated and on strange poses, astonishing the spectators. Boone activates automaton Penn via wind-up as Penn tells Boone how weird he felt not being built, so Boone tells him he built him. Larry activates automaton Rippen via a boiler, causing Rippen to cough, so he asks him why did he designed him like this, so Larry responds him saying it's more realistic. DiReginald tells that the automaton who punches the other's head off wins and starts the match.
In the first round, Penn and Rippen punch at each other's glove, causing themselves to fall apart. In the second round, Rippen activates a cannon that fires sand at Penn, so he takes out a fan as protection, but Rippen punches through it. Rippen tries to punch him again, but his arm malfunctions and ends up firing his glove at the bell, ending the round. Penn gets annoyed at Boone that he was given a paper fan as shield, so Boone tells him that paper fan could have confused Rippen, giving Penn an advantage. Penn tells him that he couldn't have won missions without him, saying he needed his weird ideas, and that he needs them more than ever. In the third round, DiReginald starts rapping while Penn fires sticky bubblegum at Rippen, slowing him down and allowing Penn to punch him.
Penn activates springs on the bottom of his feet, jumping high to punch Rippen from above, so Rippen uses one of his tubes on his automaton body to spew smoke at Penn, knocking him. Rippen's arm later falls off while Penn's leg runs away from Boone. Rippen later activates an electric blaster from his arm to fire at Penn, but ends up electrocuting himself. Penn later fires a kitten at Rippen and then proceeds to dance. Rippen also dances before try to fire goo from a goo blaster, but ends up exploding, covering Rippen and Larry in goo. Penn later takes out a croissant and tells him about it, so Boone responds him croissant is French for boomerang, so he tosses the croissant, hitting the same couple's helicopter from earlier, ending up hitting Penn in the face. Rippen takes out a mop and gets puzzled, so he discards it and goes to punch Penn's head off. When his head is about to get punched away, a small Boone appears on Penn's shoulder and tells him to set a clock's hand to three, so he takes out a cuckoo clock and sets its hands to three, activating a cuckoo bird with gloves that punches Rippen, knocking him. Rippen falls on top of the mop, causing it to explode and flinging his head away. Rippen angrily asks Larry why didn't he told him it was an exploding mop, so Larry tells him he didn't ask.
Boone and Larry fly away in their balloon airship as he jokingly calls Rippen "Larry's Penn", before the same helicopter from earlier damages their balloon, causing the airship to crash and ending the episode.
