"The Big Bite" is the first segment of the thirty-fifth episode of Vampirina. It aired on June 28, 2019 and is the first segment of the tenth episode of the second season.
Plot[]
Oxana, Boris, Demi, and Gregoria join Chef Remy Bones in watching Pennsylvania's most popular cooking show, The Big Bite, hosted by Trevor Porkpie. Two of Pennsylvania's finest will compete for the Best Chef Award. After the show is over, Porkpie tells everyone who wants to be on the show to send a letter that tells about them and and their cooking. This gives Vampirina an idea for Bones to join the cooking show, which would be a dream come true. This inspires Bones to be a better chef for monsters and the humans, but he doesn't want to be on television, as he doesn't think that is possible.
Later, Vampirina sends in a letter for Bones, revealing that he is invited to join The Big Bite tomorrow. Bones thanks Vampirina, but Gregoria and Demi wonder if people get scared if they see a skeleton on television. So, Vampirina dresses Bones up as a human so that he's ready to go on the show. Since he will have to cook human food, he recaps that Poppy and Bridget like his creations, as long as he leaves out the eyeballs. He mentions that his only dream was to make great food for everyone.
For the show, Bones needs a sous chef, and Vampirina decides to do the task. The Big Bite then begins, with the host introducing Chef Remy Bones and Mr. Froufington. The judge is Mr. Gore, who likes to combine science and food and create delicious meals. Three rounds of cooking will take place, and after they're complete, Mr. Gore will name the best chef. Mr. Froufington wishes Vampirina and Bones luck. The first round is soup, and Bones decides to make a pot of water and vegetables. Bones finishes the soup, which he calls the soup du bore. Mr. Gore thinks of it as simple. Mr. Froufington made French onion soup, which Mr. Gore likes better.
Round two is who can make the better pizza. Bones hoped his soup would be a hit for Mr. Gore. Just then, his right hand heads to Mr. Froufington, and when he isn't looking, Bones comes up with an idea to make the same pizza as him, although Vampirina is against it. Bones decides to put a little spin on it, which Mr. Gore describes as creative.
The final round is where each chef can make their own favorite dish. Bones thinks it is nonsense, but Vampirina tells him that he still has a chance to win. She mentions that Mr. Gore like the design, which was totally original. So, Bones decides to go for it and make a one-of-a-kind Chef Remy creation. He just has to be himself; even if he doesn't win, all that matters is that he cooks from the heart. Bones thanks Vampirina for the help, and as a result, his creation, which is a detonating duck l'orange, beats Mr. Froufington's special salmon mousse. As a result, Mr. Gore names Chef Remy Bones as the best chef for his inventiveness and creativity. He never could have done it with Vampirina, so he gives her a chef hat as a present. Demi then brings the detonating duck l'orange from the oven, and Vampirina concludes that it really is a Chef Remy Bones original.
