Riding in on Horace, Mickey enters a western town, fails to impress a Mexican Minnie with his mischievous antics, but succeeds in saving her from the dastardly Pegleg Pedro.
Marcellite Garner makes her debut as the official voice of Minnie Mouse. Garner was initially a member of the ink-and-paint department, but a casting call was made for a girl who could speak Spanish, since Minnie would be portraying a Spanish seƱorita in this short. Only Garner and one other woman could speak Spanish, but it went to Garner since the other girl couldn't sing and Minnie was also going to sing in this short.
This marks the first short to feature the new standard Pete design, with his face now peach-colored and regular eyes instead of the black dots.
