"The Catastrophe" is an episode of Wander Over Yonder.
Synopsis[]
Sylvia's attendance at watching a jellyfish migration is disrupted when Wander becomes attached to a viral "Baby Cakes" video, resulting in him missing everything. It is soon revealed that Little Bits is actually making the video which will put the whole city under her control, and Sylvia must stop her.
Plot[]
Wander and Sylvia are on Tetsuon (pronounced Zet-too-oh) to see the annual jellyfish migration over the statue of the galactic guru. Sylvia is excited to see the event, but Wander becomes distracted by the all the minor things throughout the city. He eventually settles on a cellphone like device from a vending machine that plays nothing but videos of a kitten named Babycakes. He gets one and becomes fascinated by it to the point that he begins to ignore everything else. Sylvia is at first happy, but he proceeds to walk into traffic and gets boxed up at a cat phone factory which Sylvia ends up taking abuse from. After getting him out of a vending machine, she races him to the event, but they miss it entirely.
Sylvia takes Wander's phone where he proceeds to act like a cat. She then realizes that Babycakes is actually Little Bits and has everyone on Tetsuon under her control with her cat videos. After easily finding her studio (it is the biggest building in the center of the city) Sylvia and a brainwashed Wander barge in to confront her. Little Bits reveals that following her previous defeat, she has resorted to making videos to make a living and had even stolen the king's influence, thus securing her place. She plans to continue making videos until she eventually has the entire galaxy under her control. Sylvia destroys Wander's phone, breaking her influence over him, but knows that she cannot defeat Little Bits.
Sylvia proceeds to warn the people through the videos to break away from their phones, but she ends up getting stuck in a box and lands face first in kitty litter. Suddenly, everyone becomes fascinated with Sylvia's pratfall and she proceeds to make numerous other pratfalls with Wander recording her. Despite Little Bits' best efforts, Sylvia succeeds in defeating her after she gets stuck in a paper towel tube and she declares revenge. As everyone celebrates Sylvia, she and Wander leave Tetsuon just as everyone becomes fascinated with a video of a turtle eating pancakes. Wander apologizes for missing the migration, but they encounter the jellyfish floating in space and take an imaginary selfie as they continue onward.
End credits[]
