The Coachman's Assistants are the mysterious hellish minions of the Coachman. They appear in the 2022 live-action remake, Pinocchio.
Background[]
In this film, they are portrayed as large and shadowy mist-like creatures called Vapor Monsters (as implied by Pinocchio) that capture the boys and girls that had turned into donkeys and have them shipped off to the salt mines.
Role in the movie[]
When Jiminy arrives at Pleasure Island, he encounters two of the Coachman's Goons, who capture a child who was turned into a donkey and carry him away before vanishing. After Jiminy is knocked by Lampwick into a grate where he finds himself at the island’s dockyard, Jiminy spots more goons corralling, caging and loading more donkey-transformed children onto a boat to be sold to salt mines as labelled on the cages as the Coachman orders them to hurry up.
After Lampwick is transformed into a donkey, the Coachman and two of his Goons enter the bar to collect more transformed children. He spots Pinocchio, who had not yet been completely transformed, and orders his minions after him, only for them to be struck by a pool table kicked by Lampwick. As Pinocchio and Jiminy Cricket flee to escape the island, the Coachman and his goons chase them, only to fail to capture them when the puppet jumps into the sea. They do not appear throughout the rest of the film afterwards.
