The Collector's Fortress or Tivan Collection is the setting of the attraction Guardians of the Galaxy - Mission: BREAKOUT! in Disney's California Adventure.
History[]
Background[]
The Collector's Fortress is a large teleporting building used by Taneleer Tivan AKA The Collector, an amoral collector of intergalactic antiquities and organisms. The technology of the fortress is supplied by the intergalactic corporation X-S Tech which is largely used to assist in holding the organisms he captures in captivity. For extra revenue he provides tours of his collection with guests using modified gantry-lifts to be taken throughout the facility. The Collector is also known to kidnap tourists who enter his facility if they might provide value to his collection.
In May 2017, the Collector brought his fortress to the city of Anaheim, California where Tony Stark was building the first Avengers Campus. This travel coincided with the Collector receiving a tip from his bounty-hunter Jeutar Mörat that a "Stranger" he was interested in had travelled to Earth. For unknown reasons, Stark allowed the Collector to host his operations in the Campus and even run an alien dining-service called, "Terran Treats".
At some point at the campus, the collector managed to kidnap the Guardians of the Galaxy by offering Star-Lord a VIP tour of his collection. The collector then placed the guardians on display as his main exhibit for inhabitants of Avengers Campus to see. However, Rocket Raccoon escaped and managed to use a group of tourists to assist him in disabling the building's security systems causing the inhabitants of the museum to run rampant, causing mass chaos and destruction.
Development History[]
The location is inspired by the Collector's Museum from the films Thor: The Dark World and Guardians of the Galaxy. The design of the tower had to be built around the architecture of The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror which proceeded it with the designers deciding to go for an art style reminiscent of the work of the late-Jack Kirby; a comic-book writer and artist who was well known for his cosmic mythologies. Jack Kirby's artwork was also used as influence for the then-upcoming film, Thor: Ragnarok of which the ride had many tie-ins with.

Guardians of the Galaxy - Mission: BREAKOUT![]
The Collector's Fortress is the main setting of this attraction where guests team-up with Rocket Raccoon to free the guardians. Rocket uses Star-Lord's SONY walkman to hack into the energy mainframe and disable the security. As a result the Guardians have to fight the many inhabitants of the collection and save the guests from being eaten.
Monsters After Dark[]
In this Halloween overlay, guests enter the Fortress as it was left in the mainstream incarnation of the ride. It is seen darkened with glitching tech from the outside. Meanwhile on the inside, we see the emergency lights flashing as the employees of the Fortress get hunted down by the freed monsters.
Guests join Rocket Raccoon as he attempts to save Groot who was left behind following the last ride. The Fortress still allowing for tours, claiming the breakout is merely the result of technical difficulties.
Pym Test Kitchen[]
Wasp occasionally receives several texts referencing the fortress. This includes spam-texts promoting tours, Ant-Man saying that the Collector invited him over for, "Sakaaran brews", Tony Stark inquiring on the Collector having kidnapped the guardians, and both Gamora and Star-Lord texting Wasp for help in escaping.
Web Slingers: A Spider-Man Adventure[]
The Collector's Fortress is entered by Spider-Man and guests of W.E.B. while fighting the Spider-Bots let loose on Avengers Campus. The exterior of the fortress also appears in the distance within the Quinjet hangar on the final level of the attraction.

Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout (Marvel Comic)[]
In this comic-book storyline set in Marvel's Earth-616, the Collector's Fortress is located in an asteroid field in deep-space. It is built on a particularly large asteroid and is protected by a large, translucent force-field with its own contained eco-sphere. In this story, we learn the Fortress is a sort of intergalactic tourism destination though the Collector is not opposed to, "Collecting" tourists of rare species. It is also revealed that the Collector has servants known as The Gatherers who work to obtain his artifacts.
