"The Five Pigeons of the Acapellapocalypse" is the first segment of the fourth episode of the Disney Channel animated series Kiff.
On March 11, 2023, the episode was released early on Disney+.
Synopsis[]
Kiff unleashes five forces of chaos, and Helen is the only one who can help.
Plot[]
As his TV shows have been lagging in the ratings, Roy Fox is having a garage sale to make some extra money. At the garage sale, Kiff buys a pigeon figurine, despite being advised not to by Helen. After researching the figurine, Kiff learns that it is part of a set of five figurines. Kiff, being an avid collector, becomes determined to complete the set. She and Barry find three of the remaining figurines in shops around Table Town, then spot the final figurine in Helen's classroom. When Helen leaves the classroom, Kiff takes the figurine. By gathering all five, however, Kiff unwittingly frees the imprisoned spirits of a quintet of harmonizing pigeons known as "The Five Pigeons of the Acapellapocalypse" from the figurines. The pigeons proceed to wreak havoc around Table Town Middle School, then cause further chaos downtown.
Helen explains to Kiff that the pigeons are ancient, malevolent entities who were cursed into toy form by a group of witches that included her great-great-great-grandmother, and that the toys were scattered around Table Town to keep the pigeons from ever returning. Helen also advises that the pigeons can be stopped by separating them before sunset, but she is unwilling to help Kiff accomplish this. Later, Kiff and Barry visit Helen's home and pretend to be her great-great-great-grandmother's ghost to convince Helen to help, only to discover that Helen's ghostly great-great-great-grandmother also lives there. Helen is nonetheless persuaded by her great-great-great-grandmother to assist Kiff and Barry.
Kiff, Barry and Helen head downtown and, with the help of Helen's magic, manage to split up the pigeons before sunset. Upon seeing them sadly calling out to each other, the three feel pity for the pigeons, but despite Kiff's urging, Helen refuses to reunite them due to their destructive tendencies. Kiff notices Roy's garage sale and comes up with an idea on how to deal with the pigeons, then gets Helen to reunite the pigeons by offering her a piece of candy. The pigeons are made the stars of Roy's new reality show The Five Jerks, sealed off from the rest of society in their own mansion located in a remote area of the island.

Trivia[]
- Opening Sponsor: Foxhole Productions.
- The Five Pigeons of the Acapellapocalypse (and the episode itself) are named in reference to the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, biblical figures from the Book of Revelation.
- At the garage sale, Roy is selling copies of his book Roy Roy Roy Your Boat, whose title references the nursery rhyme "Row, Row, Row Your Boat".
- While looking through vinyl records at Roy's garage sale, Kiff finds a copy of volume 95 of Now That's What I Call Quiet!, a parody of the Now That's What I Call Music! series. Also visible is an album by "The Beetles", a parody of the band the Beatles.
- Kiff's shouts of "To the collectorium!" and "To the library!", each followed by a distinctive musical cue, are references to the Batman TV series.
- At the Table Town Gift Emporium, the phrase "A Wrinkling Time" is seen in a frame, referencing the 1962 novel A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L'Engle.
- The Okay Will Donation Center's name is a play on the name of the Goodwill thrift store chain.
- The store 7/24-7 is a parody of 7-Eleven.
- 3 allusions to the Great Rubber Boom appear throughout the episode: at Roy's garage sale, Barry finds a pack of trading cards depicting "moments from the Great Rubber Boom of the Southern Continent (early 1900s)"; an issue of Rubber Boom Comics is among the items in Kiff's collectorium; and the old Table Times newspaper that Kiff and Barry read at the library features the headline "The Great Rubber Boom Rages On!", along with a picture of a tapped rubber tree.
- All of the songs were left completely undubbed in the Cantonese dub, the Chinese Mandarin dub, and the Taiwanese Mandarin dub.
- "BooHoo Wah Wah" was also left completely undubbed in the Japanese dub.
Continuity[]
- In the background of Helen's living room, there is a picture of her with Centaur Claus before he makes his appearance in "Halfway There Day".
Errors[]
- The Fox mansion is located in a suburban neighborhood surrounded by other houses, but at the end of the episode it is seen on top of a hill with no other neighbors.
