The episode begins with Donald working on his Roadster in the Roadster Garage, only to be interrupted by Goofy, who is looking for a place to hang up his poster of Silly Steve, who is famous for designing wacky races. Goofy hopes to one day be just like Silly Steve, but Donald claims that any race Goofy would come up with would just be too goofy. This gives an idea for Goofy to design his very own race, and he calls it the Goofy Race. Later, Goofy, Donald, Pete, Mickey, Minnie, and Daisy are all ready for the Goofy race. Everyone's Roadster has a special contraption to make their vehicle extra goofy. For example, Goofy's engine makes a fountain and Pete has a built-in pizza maker.
For each part of the race, Billy Beagle will spin a wheel to decide the drivers' challenge. For the first part of the race, drivers must drive their Roadster in reverse to the next location, but Pete bumps Donald into a car wash, and he comes out all dirty due to having entered it backwards. For the second part of the race, drivers must dance around their Roadsters while singing a goofy song. Daisy and Pete do a duet, while Donald sings about how the race is just too goofy. For the third part of the race, drivers must assemble a 3-foot tall sandwich. Daisy trips when she assembles her sandwich, but is allowed to continue since she looked so goofy after falling.
For the final part of the race, drivers must toss basketballs into a hoop. Minnie, in her excitement, activates her Goofy feature, which is bubbles, but the bubbles get in Donald's face and he crashes into the van holding the basketballs and wheel. Goofy thinks his race is a disaster, but Donald and the other races help him gather the basketballs. Donald makes it to first place. The episode ends with Silly Steve giving Donald a trophy for winning the Goofy race, only for it to launch a pie in Donald's face as a prank.
Trivia[]
The song that Donald sings at the beginning of the episode is a parody of “I’ve Been Working on the Railroad”.
