The Grand Opening of Walt Disney World is a musical television special celebrating and highlighting the opening ceremonies of the Walt Disney World. It aired on NBC on October 29, 1971.
Highlights
- The special opens with Glenn Campbell performing "Today is Mine".
- Julie Andrews sings "When You Wish Upon a Star" while she goes inside a theater playing clips from Walt Disney's animated classics. This is followed by Andrews singing "Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah" with the Kids of the Kingdom and some Disney characters accompanying her.
- An ongoing storyline starring Jonathan Winters where he tries to help his shell-shocked wife let loose and relax, culminating in her running off after a disasterous game of "William Tell".
