"The Hallie Trap" is the one hundred twenty-ninth episode of Doc McStuffins. It premiered on January 25, 2020 and is the tenth episode in the fifth season.
Professor Hootsburgh sees Doc and Hallie and they hope they aren't late for Oooey Gablooey's show. Doc and Hallie will make it, but Hootsburgh has an itch that won't stop. Doc uses a magnifying glass, and sees that the diagnosis is thorn-in-side syndrome, meaning there is a thorn in Hootsburgh's plush. Hallie brings Doc the tweezers to remove the thorn, as she plans to stay one step ahead of Doc. Hootsburgh thanks them for the help and will see them at the theater.
There, a telescope and the other toys are waiting for the show to start. Hallie tells the Wicked King that she is excited, as are Stuffy and Lambie, but Chilly is scared about what may happen. Doc states that the show has something for every toy. The show then begins, and the other toys do their respective tricks, wowing everyone. The final act is Hallie the Entertainer and her sidekick, Ladonna. They are partners, though. Doc states that Hallie is a toy from a TV show and the Hallie on the stage is another version of the toy. The final act is also great, and there will be another show later today. Hallie liked it, as did Doc and the other toys. Hallie wonders what it feels like to have so many toys clapping for her, and wants to meet Hallie the Entertainer.
Gablooey tells Doc to come backstage, as she and her toys need to cure Joni, as her leg got injured during her performance. Doc gives her a checkup and finds out that Joni has a case of the leggy wiggles, meaning her joint screw is a little wiggly, which is causing her leg to swing. Joni can still perform, as it's a common injury for performers who use their legs a lot. Doc then tightens the screw up back to normal, and Joni can still walk, although she's wobbly. Although braces that would hold the joint in place are back at the hospital, Gablooey keeps them in the first aid kit in the equipment room.
Hallie gets them when she bumps into Hallie the Entertainer. The nurse tells the entertainer that she loved the show. The entertainer wishes she could just be regular old Hallie. The two Hallies decide to switch places, and although the nurse is against it, the entertainer decides to give the brace to Joni. They will switch back before the next show. They then switch their respective clothes, and the entertainer gives Doc the brace, which gets put on Joni. She tries a kick only for the brace to fall off. Joni will need to go to the hospital right away, where Doc decides to do a CAT scan, which will help see what's really going on. Although she may be late for the show, her health comes first. Everyone helps Joni into a chair while Hallie calls Rosie on her Toysponder. Doc notices Hallie's Toysponder missing, and decides to replace it at the hospital while she calls Rosie.
Meanwhile, the real Hallie gets pictures taken by Hootsburgh and tells her that she looks smart. Hallie then signs the Wicked Kings's paper when Gablooey comes, wanting Hallie and Ladonna to open the show, with Joni injured, Glo-Bo needing extra time to exercise his hands, and Southwest Sal dealing with a runaway horse at her ranch. Hallie claims she isn't ready, but Gablooey says otherwise. Meanwhile, Doc and her toys give Joni an ambulance ride to the hospital. Hallie the Entertainer states she can't go to the hospital, while the real Hallie doesn't want to go on stage. However, Gablooey is supportive of her. Hallie then hears the audience chanting her name, and she reluctantly gets ready. She states that there is more to nursing that what she does, as performing could be her life.
Doc is about to find out what's wrong with Joni's leg when Hallie does a trick over a hoop, as she did that to make Joni laugh. Doc then scans Joni, and all the toys will be there for her, making her feel better. As Hallie states that helping toys is exhilarating, the real Hallie and her partner Ladonna perform for the crowd. Hallie states she can do all the tricks, but she isn't doing it properly. Everything then goes well until one of the rings lands on Hootsburgh. Meanwhile, it looks like Joni's wiggles was caused by a weak screw and the CAT scan picked up a tiny piece that's still in her joint, and she now has screw-matoid Toy-ritis. Hallie is confused about the Big Book of Boo Boos, and the toys remind her what it's for. Hallie then writes it down. As she gets a new screw, Chilly reminds her that the screw is in the "This and That" room.
Doc feels like Hallie is acting strange, and Stuffy and Lambie notice it. Hallie then gets a ride to the room. Meanwhile, the other Hallie does a great job of her act with Ladonna and gets praised by Southwest Sal backstage for it. Hallie's Toysponder then sounds, and the other Hallie wonders what screw she needs for the pony's leg. The nurse can't hear anything as the audience is chanting her name for an encore. The nurse then prepares for another act while the entertainer is confused at what screw she should pick. Since Joni is pink, Hallie decides to pick the pink one. However, Hallie usually gives Doc the things she needs before she even asks. Of course, the pink screw doesn't fit, as it isn't the right size. Hallie claims she picked the wrong one and her glasses need cleaning. Lambie goes to get the screw herself.
Meanwhile, Hallie the nurse and Ladonna are continuing their act with the audience wanting a trapeze number. That is what Hallie and Ladonna are famous for. As Hallie prepares for the trick, Doc twists the right screw so Joni's joint is nice and tight. She can now stand, and does a kick perfectly. Her diagnoses are cured. She is then taken to recover, and Doc questions Hallie what's going with her, as she isn't acting like herself. Hallie refuses to believe it, but after Doc mentions the abnormal things she did in the past, Hallie reveals herself to be the entertainer. The two Hallies switched places. It was only supposed to be for a little while so the entertainer could see what it was like to be regular and the nurse could see what it was like to be famous. However, she got trapped in the ambulance.
The other Hallie is on stage doing the trapeze routine, despite not being trained to do that, and Doc calls Rosie to get her and the toys to the theater immediately. Hallie the nurse does her trick but falls off. Ladonna catches her, but she falls with Hallie. Ladonna's tail gets stuck in the net, and the real Hallie frees it. Hallie the Entertainer is glad Ladonna is okay, and she introduces herself. The nurse apologizes for running off to be famous. She explains why she did that, but she got hooked. However, helping an injured toy was what made her feel the best. Only Hallie the Entertainer needs a crowd chanting her name, as although she is happy to be regular for a while, she misses being a star. Doc is happy everyone is okay, and the real Hallie states that being a star was nice for a while, but she decides to be a nurse, as it's what's best for her. She will always be a star to everyone. Gablooey states that the fans would get a kick out of seeing both Hallies up on stage, and Hallie the nurse decides to leave the performing to the performers, but she'll always be around in case a toy gets hurt. The team is back together and they celebrate with a group cuddle.
