"The Hot Dog Song" is a song associated with the dance Mickey and the gang do at the end of every episode of Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. Every character has a different dance move he or she does to the song.

It is performed by They Might Be Giants. It echoes Mickey's first spoken words in the 1929 short The Karnival Kid. Extended versions of the song have been released on at least two different albums: Playhouse Disney: Music Play Date and Disney Junior DJ Shuffle. The version on Playhouse Disney: Music Play Date runs 2:27, while it was shortened to 1:43 for the DJ Shuffle version.

Lyrics

They Might Be Giants: Hot dog!

Synthetic voice: Hot dog!

They Might Be Giants: Hot dog!

They Might Be Giants and Mickey Mouse: Hot dog, hot dog, hot diggety dog
Now we got ears, it's time for cheers

They Might Be Giants: Hot dog, hot dog, the problem's solved
Hot dog, hot dog, hot diggety dog!

Grab my boots and a sandwich
Let's start a parade
Get the coconut drumkit for Daisy to play

They Might Be Giants: Hot dog, hot dog, hot diggety dog
We're takin' off, we're dancin' now
Hot dog, leapfrog and holy cow
Hot dog, hot dog, hot diggety dog

They Might Be Giants: Hot dog, hot dog, hot diggety dog
It's a brand-new day, what you waitin' for?
Get up, stretch out, stomp on the floor
Hot dog, hot dog, hot diggety dog

They Might Be Giants and Mickey Mouse: Hot dog, hot dog, hot diggety dog
We're splittin' the scene, we're full of beans
So long for now from Mickey Mouse

Mickey: That's me!

They Might Be Giants: And the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse!

Mickey: See ya real soon! (Season 1) Aww, thanks for stoppin' by! (Season 2-present)

Trivia

  • Each of the characters have a different version of the Hot Dog Dance during the song:
    • Mickey swings his body back and forth while swaying his arms and kicking his feet out.
    • Minnie's variant is similar to Mickey's, except that she swings out her arms while kicking her heels.
    • Goofy flaps his arms like a bird while squatting up and down and kicking out his legs. If Pete joins in on the dance, he mimics Goofy's variant.
    • Pluto squats up and down while leaning from side to side.
    • Donald swings his arms back and fourth while hopping on his feet.
    • Daisy sways her arms side to side and leans to the opposite side.
    • Clarabelle puts her arms down in place like a penguin and quietly marches in place. She also mimics Goofy's variant at times.
  • In some episodes, the recurring characters in the show would also join such as Pete, Clarabelle, Ludwig Von Drake, Mortimer Mouse, Chip and Dale and Toodles (who permanently joins the gang in the dance on season 4 and onwards and leaves with them after he flies out the Mouskedoer).
  • The dance is referred to as the Mouskedance in Season 1 and the Hot Dog Dance for the rest of the show. For episodes set on Mars, as a hot dog is known as a yumblatz there, the dance is named accordingly.
  • During the interruption In Season 1, Mickey would give a short recap of the Mousketools used in the episode. From Season 2 onwards, the protagonist of the episode would thank the viewer.
  • This song was played on Mickey's Monster Musical. The first part is being played when they dance. This time, Clarabelle mimics Donald's dance. The last of the song is being played with the dialogues from the cast a la Rebecca Sugar's Love Like You playing in Steven Universe.
  • In Season 1, the characters do a pose, then do their dances (it's dancing to the closing theme) as the credits roll, making it the last of the celebration. It is followed by the WDTA/Playhouse Disney logos.
