"The Legend of the Sandelion" is the first segment of the twenty-seventh episode of Miles from Tomorrowland. It premiered on November 14, 2015 alongside "The Mystery of Atlantix".

Plot[]

In the living room, Loretta is reviewing the different types of aliens the Callistos found, and Miles and M.E.R.C. join in. Miles claims that he discovered a few species of his own, the Lobstoid and the two-handed flanko-prix, which are actually Miles and M.E.R.C. in different costumes. As Loretta leaves, Miles shows her one more: the Octo-M.E.R.C. This makes Loretta laugh, and Miles is impressed about it. Stella then informs Miles and M.E.R.C. to report to the bridge.

Once the Callistos are at the bridge, Admiral Crick is building a sand castle on top of Admiral Watson. The Admirals assign the Callistos on a new mission: the city of Planet Sandrosk, the planet where the Mendelsons live, is at risk of being destroyed by a sandstorm. The city usually activates its dome for protection, but this morning, the dome's generator was found damaged, and the dome won't work. The Callistos accept the mission, and are given advice by Crick that when the sand blows, keep your mouth closed. Leo decides to give the Mendelsons a call.

The Callistos then enter Sandrosk's atmosphere with the Star Jetter. Loretta calculates that the sandstorm will hit the city in less than an hour. The Callistos then land at where Mesa is. Miles and Loretta are delighted to see Melvin and Melinda again. Phoebe tells the Mendelsons that the Callistos will do whatever they can to help. They see the incoming sandstorm, and while Mesa shows Phoebe and Leo the damage, Miles assumes that Planet Sandrosk is sandtastic. Melvin and Melinda say that it is not always sandtastic when they get sandstorms. By that, it is what's inside the storm that they fear. Melinda believes that it is an old legend and not real. Loretta likes legends, and wants to hear it. Melinda says that it roams the planet by night and inside sandstorms by day. Part lion and serpent, the creature is known as the Sandelion. A long time ago, that's when the aliens on Sandrosk judged the damage caused by sandstorms. Miles wonders how blastastic it would be if Sandelions were real.

At the city, Mesa tells Leo and Phoebe that nothing he knows of could have damaged the tower. They then decide to fix the generator while Miles, Loretta, M.E.R.C., Melvin, and Melinda decide to look for any missing pieces. So far, they do not see any, and Melinda wonders if the wind covered them in sand. Loretta activates her ground scan, and it looks like there is something buried. Miles tells the Mendelsons that long ago, he was afraid of something: space barnacles. They stick up at the windows and stare at you. One day, Leo showed Miles a space barnacle up close. Miles assumes that they're actually kind of funny-looking. Melinda thinks that the Sandelion is funny-looking, too. Melinda believes that the Sandelion looks like nothing because it's not real, but Melvin says that just because no one has seen it, doesn't mean it's not real.

After Loretta sees the buried piece up ahead, M.E.R.C. activates his down periscope. Suddenly, the ground starts to shake, and the Sandelion appears. Everyone then runs away from him. Miles says that he is not funny looking. Loretta, meanwhile, can update her Bracelex to include the Sandelion species, but Miles tells her to do that later when Miles, Loretta, M.E.R.C., Melvin, and Melinda fall through a hole. Everyone is all right, but Miles is unable to contact his parents because sandstorms always interfere with com from Sandrosk. They then see different tunnels, which were created when the Sandelion pushed himself through. They take the tunnel that leads to the dome generator.

After Leo and Phoebe put the pieces together, Leo reveals that one piece is missing, and without it, the dome will not function. Phoebe tries to contact Miles to no avail. In the tunnel, Loretta says that one thing that does not make sense is that the Sandelion has never been seen before, and wonders why it is chasing them. When Miles, Loretta, M.E.R.C., Melvin, and Melinda hear the Sandelion, they run away from him until they hit a dead end. Eventually, Miles and Loretta see that he is in pain. The Sandelion reveals to them that there is a hunk of metal stuck in his scales, and the metal is from the dome generator. Melvin believes that the Sandelion pushed himself through the generator when it was dark out, and Miles wonders if the Sandelion was not trying to hurt them, but was just trying to ask for help. Melvin does his sandform to get to the top of the Sandelion and remove the metal piece from his scales, making him feel better. Miles knows how to get to the dome generator quick.

They ride the Sandelion to the city, and Phoebe, Mesa, and Leo are surprised. Miles rides M.E.R.C. to fit the piece at the top of the generator, which activates its dome just as the sandstorm hits the city. Melvin and Melinda tell the Sandelion that it was great to see him, and ask him to come back soon. The Sandelion leaves the city, throwing sand in everyone's faces, and Loretta thinks that she liked the Sandelion better if he was not real.

Back in the Stellosphere, Admirals Watson and Crick not only congratulate the Callistos, but also announce that the Tomorrowland Transit Authority database now has thorough documentation of the Sandelion, thanks to Loretta. However, the Admirals were confused and frightened about the other species she included in her upload - the Octo-M.E.R.C. Miles wonders how it got in there.
