"The Library Kid" is the first segment of the thirty-fourth episode of Recess.
Synopsis[]
The gang investigates an urban legend of a kid who stays in the library during recess.
Plot[]
The Recess Gang head to the library to do a report when Gus has a brief encounter with the Library Kid, a child who stays in the library and reads books all day. They decide to catch her to prove that she is not just an urban legend. They manage to quickly find and corner her and she reveals that she was already interested in books from a young age and was excited to go to Third Street School, only to find that her classmates were all rowdy and loud. She ran and found the library and has stayed there ever since. The Recess Gang decides to invite her to come out and join them at recess for the first time.
The Recess Gang takes the Library Kid outside who initially has trouble grasping that she is not supposed to examine or read things outside, but take part and have fun. She ends up taking to playing really well, only to become overly obsessed and starts to act out of control and running around even after the bell has rung. The Recess Gang try to stop her, but each one succumbs to reading a book in a desperate attempt to calm the Library Kid down. After the Library Kid gets stuck on a flag pole, Gretchen pulls the fire alarm and she is saved. The Library Kid insists that she'll stay within the library, but Gretchen teaches her to spend time indoors and outdoors in moderation, inspiring the Library Kid to play outside again.

- On Disney+ and outside the U.S., this episode is second next to "Yope from Norway".
- Vince reads a book of baseball trivia and refers to Babe Ruth by one of his nicknames, The Sultan of Swat. He also mentions that "Shoeless Joe wore shoes", referring to baseball player Joseph Jefferson Jackson, more commonly known as Shoeless Joe Jackson.
- It would be impossible for the Library Kid to stay in the library all day long, as she would have had to attend classes as well.
- When TJ says, "Welcome to our world!" loudly on the playground, the Library Kid pretends to shush him.
