"The Long Weekend" is the thirteenth episode of American Dragon: Jake Long.
Synopsis[]
Somewhere in New Jersey at 10:13 PM, two magical fairies called sprites are heading back to their village when a strange roar is heard in the woods. A strange cryptid is looking for the sprites. The sprites hide in the bushes. The legendary cryptid opens the bushes with its strange moose hooves and attacks the two sprites.
Meanwhile, Jake, Trixie, Spud, and Jonathan are on a camping trip, while Haley and Susan go on their own trip to a spa. Unfortunately, Haley and Susan accidentally board the wrong bus and they end up going to boot camp instead. After Jake and company reach the campsite, Jake sets up camp for Jonathan.
At night, they all eat s'mores and Jonathan goes to sleep in his tent. A male sprite arrives and tells Jake, Trixie, and Spud to come to their village. At the village, two elder sprites explain that the stars have reveald that every one hundred years, a great evil returns to attack their village for seven nights. The Jersey Devil will raid their supplies and pillage their food stores, leaving them to starve during the winter nights. However, the stars have also foretold that every one hundred years, a great hero will arise to defeat the Jersey Devil and save their village. A roar is suddenly heard in the woods, and a moose-like creature with long horns, eagle wings, and a lion's tail charges and attacks the sprite village. Fortunately, Jake hits the cryptid's nose and it runs away, screeching like a dog.
According to legend, the Jersey Devil will return for seven nights unless Jake stops it. Later that night, The Jersey Devil returns and fights Jake. Jake tells the Jersey Devil to stop attacking the sprite village but it refusea, knocking out Jake. Unfortunately, the cryptid destroya the camp area. Jake almost falls off a cliff after being chased by the cryptid, until Jonathan arrives wearing a loincloth. The Jersey Devil is sprayed by bear spray and caught in a fishing net. The cryptid then falls off the cliff and dies, ending his malice for good. Jonathan saves Jake, and Trixie and Spud arrive. Jake then makes up with his father.
The next day, after the sprite village is saved, Jake and company pack their things and head back to New York. Haley and Susan return home as well, and then grab and eat some of Spud's s'mores. Jake and Jonathan stare at each other, confused about Haley and Susan's hunger for the s'mores.

Etymology[]
- The title is a reference to the 2005 Canadian film of the same name.
Trivia[]
- In the scene where Jake is mini-golfing with his dad, one of the kids laughing at him is Jared MacArthur, the teen singing sensation Jake transfigured himself into in "Shapeshifter".
- Grandpa and Fu Dog are absent in this episode, but they do appear in the Lilo & Stitch: The Series episode "Morpholomew", which premiered the same day.
- Jonathan believed the Jersey Devil to be a bear.
- When Jonathan arrived to save Jake from the Jersey Devil, he was half-naked because his scout uniform had been ripped.
