The Lost Chords: Cinderella is an album of songs that were written for the 1950 animated film Cinderella but not used in the final version. It was released on October 2, 2012 by Walt Disney Records as part of The Lost Chords series. The album features demo recordings of the original songs, as well as new versions performed by contemporary artists such as Jennifer Paz, Kate Higgins, and Jeff Gunn. It also includes liner notes by Randy Thornton, a producer and music historian who restored the original recordings.
Background[]
The songs on the album were composed by Mack David, Al Hoffman, and Jerry Livingston, who also wrote the songs that were used in the film. The demos were intended to be used as guides for the animators and the final singers, but they were never released to the public until this album. The songs were cut from the film for various reasons, such as pacing, tone, or story changes. Some of the songs were replaced by new ones, such as "Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo" and "A Dream Is a Wish Your Heart Makes".
