"The Mermaid's Song" is the first segment of the thirty-fourth episode of Jake and the Never Land Pirates. It premiered on June 29, 2012 alongside "Treasure of the Tides", and is the first segment of the ninth episode in the second season.
Synopsis[]
It was the day before the "Treasure of the Tides" ceremony, where the mermaids award a special honor upon one of their own. Jake and his crew volunteered to help Marina prepare in time by collecting vines and coconuts. Marina's little sister, Stormy, wanted to go surfing instead of helping. Marina informed her she can go surfing after she helped and explained that she must go to Buccaneer Bay to get special oil to light the lamps for the ceremony. She provided Stormy three mer-tasks: 1. Collect seashells for decorations, 2. Pick seaweed for a salad, and 3. Gather more coconuts for dessert. Jake told Marina that while she's away, he and his crew will develop musical instruments for the ceremony. Jake, Izzy, Cubby, Skully, and Marina left to get to work, and Stormy prepared to do her assignments.
While searching for seashells, Stormy met Snappy the Hermit Crab, who wanted to join her. They then saw Captain Hook nearby, who was looking for treasure. Stormy wished he would collect seashells for her, so she'd have more time to go surfing, and this gave her an idea. She told Snappy about the Mermaid's Song; when someone hears it, they have to do whatever the mermaid asks them to do. She warned him to cover his ears so he wouldn't hear it. She then sang to Hook, commanding him to collect seashells, and gave him a bag to carry them in. Next, Mr. Smee appeared, searching for the captain. Stormy sang to him, ordering him to pick seaweed, and gave him a basket for the seaweed. Now, all she had to do was gather coconuts. She saw Cubby, who was sitting under a tree about to eat a banana, and remembered his saying: "Helping mermaids is always fun." So, she sang to him, instructing him to gather coconuts and stack them anywhere. Snappy disliked of what she was doing and went to inform Marina about the problem.

Cubby, hypnotized by the Mermaid's Song
Meanwhile, Jake, Skully, and Izzy are putting together instruments. They see that Cubby didn't finish his coconut drum, so they go looking for him.
While searching for Cubby, they saw Hook heading straight for a cliff, still collecting seashells. Jake couldn't get through to him, so they pushed a giant sponge under him to catch him. Hook landed safely on the sponge. Izzy asked Hook if he was okay and then clapped her hands, waking him up. Captain Hook exclaimed, "Thundering Blunderbuss! What am I doing here?!" For saving Captain Hook, they earned three gold doubloons. Then, they saw Smee walk over to an octopus, enraging the sleeping creature, and it grabbed him. The octopus then grabbed Hook and began juggling them. Jake rescued them by giving the octopus other things to juggle, earning three more gold doubloons. Smee woke up afterward, and Hook wondered what was happening. Just then, they saw Cubby piling up coconuts, which started to tip over. Izzy quickly threw pixie dust on the coconuts to hold them in midair, rescuing Cubby and earning four more gold doubloons. Jake and Izzy then noticed Cubby's eyes and realized something was wrong with him. Marina appeared with Snappy and explained that Cubby was under the spell of the Mermaid's Song. She told them that if someone hears the song, they must be forced to do whatever they're asked, and the only way to break the spell was to clap their hands. Marina clapped, and Cubby woke up, wondering what had happened. Jake and Izzy explained that he had been under the Mermaid's Song's spell, which forced him to gather coconuts. They added that Smee, who had been picking seaweed, and Hook, who had been collecting seashells, were also under the spell too. Hook demanded to know which mermaid had asked them to do such things. Marina deduced that it must have been Stormy, who then emerged from the Never Sea. Marina confronted her, explaining that Hook, Smee, and Cubby had almost gotten into serious trouble. Stormy realized that Captain Hook, Mr. Smee, and Cubby were upset about being manipulated for selfish reasons, and apologized for her actions. Marina reminded her that the Mermaid's Song should be used to aid others, never for selfish purposes, and Stormy promised never to let it happen again.
Back on Pirate Island, Cubby points out that the crew has lots of coconuts (the ones he gathered for Stormy while hypnotized)--way too many.
Meanwhile, at the Jolly Roger, Sharky and Bones are using the Mermaid's Song to hypnotize Hook as he swabs the deck for them.
