Funny takes the gang to Sportstopia to play baseball with Pete's team.
Synopsis[]
The episode begins outside Funny, where the gang is taking turns hitting baseballs pitched by Mickey. A woodpecker begins pecking on some of the bats, and a bat Goofy uses breaks because of it. Goofy then takes another bat that the woodpecker pecked and hits a baseball extremely far, thought it cracks a little without Goofy noticing. With that distance, Funny suggests the gang play in Sportstopia in a baseball contest, with the gang wholeheartedly agreeing.
The gang arrives at the stadium, where the homecoming team, Pete's Palookas, is battling against the visitors, the Beantown Bobblers, with the Palookas' best player, Powerhouse Pete, delivering the winning blow. When Pete asks if anyone if willing to play them in the next game, the gang volunteers, with their name being the Mighty Goofs. After an intense game, the game is tied at 10 points after nine innings, with Goofy's bat cracking a little with each blow.
Clarabelle claims that Sportstopia should put up a statue of Goofy, a notion that worries Powerhouse Pete because he thinks it will mean the dismantling of his statue and he will not be the town's hero anymore. Mickey asks Pete if they want to go into a tiebreaker round, but Pete's pitchers are flat-out tired. Pete suggests an old-fashioned home run contest against Goofy: first to hit 7 home runs will win the game, a bet that Goofy gladly accepts. Pete and Goofy manage to hit 6 home-runs, with Goofy's bat continuing to crack. After Pete fails to hit a home run, Goofy walks up to home plate but his baseball bat breaks, with Daisy concluding that the woodpecker must have broken it. Pete offers Goofy his baseball bat to make the final shot. Goofy is initially worried that he won't make because it is not his special bat, but Funny tells Goofy that the player matters, not the baseball bat being used. Goofy scores the seventh home run, winning the day for the Mighty Goofs. Pete prepares for the taking down of his stature, but instead, a statue of Goofy is made right next to it, with the woodpecker from earlier making the statue. The gang soon returns to Funny. The episode ends with Funny producing a souvenir to remember their trip and Mickey and Minnie waving goodbye to the viewers.
