The series features The Electric Mayhem with Dr. Teeth on lead vocals and keyboard, Animal on drums, Janice on lead guitar, Floyd Pepper on bass guitar, Zoot on saxophone, and Lips on trumpet - as they set out to record their first studio album of songs.[2]
The Muppets are joined by Lilly Singh as Nora, a junior executive for a record label who will oversee the band in their efforts. Additional celebrities from the music industry appear as cameos, and the series culminates with the release of an album. Taj Mowry plays Gary "Moog" Moogowski, a super fan of the band who uses his knowledge of the group to aid Nora.[3]
All seems lost when Nora fails to reunite The Electric Mayhem for a concert at the Hollywood Bowl.
Production[]
The series is being developed by Adam F. Goldberg, Bill Barretta, and Jeff Yorkes with a ten-episode order which started filming on April 25, 2022. Each episode runs approximately thirty minutes, with the production team looking at the series as a five-hour movie narrative. Writers on the series include Julie Bean, Hannah Friedman, Crystal Shaw, Hans Rodionoff, Gabrielle Rodriguez, and Danielle Maransky.[citation needed]
Trivia[]
The series canonizes Peter Jackson's R-rated Muppets parody film Meet the Feebles with the Electric Mayhem reminding Peter Jackson that they knew him back from Wellington and met the titular characters. Jackson responds that "Two of the Feebles are in witness protection. The rest are in prison."
This is the first Muppet production to not feature Kermit, Miss Piggy, Gonzo, Fozzie Bear, Swedish Chef and the rest of the usual muppet character cast. The only pre-existing Muppets besides the band to physically appear are Statler and Waldorf, who make an appearance in the season finale. Cameos were considered but ultimately decided against for Kermit and Piggy.
