The Need To Be Loved is a deleted song from Disney's 1977 animated feature-length film, The Rescuers.
It was to be sung after Medusa asks The Rescuers why anybody would want to adopt a "homely little girl like her", it was later replaced by "Someone's Waiting For You", which has a similar tune.
Lyrics[]
When a child begins to question
"What does life is all about?"
Love is that certain something
That we just can't do without
The need to be loved
Is as old as the wind and the sea
Or as a young as the mulberry tree
On a summer day
The need to be loved
Is the song of the lock on the wing
In the winter, the promise of spring
Through the years come what may
When the world falls apart for children
Like a broken carousel,
That's when we need the warmth of love
To tell us what we know so well
That each little rose
Needs the help of the rain and the sun
And the need, yes the need to be loved
Is the same for everyone.
