"The Occupation" is the sixty-fourth episode of the Disney XD animated series Star Wars Rebels. It premiered on October 30, 2017, and is the fifth episode in the fourth season.
Plot[]
Upon returning to Yavin 4, the Ghost crew have been called to meet Mon Mothma in the control room. They received a transmission from Ryder Azadi on Lothal two days ago. Before transmission was cut off, Ryder reported that the Empire was beginning trails on a new version of their TIE Defender. Mothma understands well how threatening TIE Defender is against the Rebellion. If there has been a new development of these fighters, the Rebellion will need to know. She volunteers Ezra Bridger to take this assignment, and he accepts along with the rest of the Ghost crew. Before sending them off, Mothma warns them that the occupation on Lothal has been reported to be a complete lock down. Even if they make it in there is no guarantee the Rebellion can extract them.
Their plan is to get Cikatro Vizago to smuggle them pass the Imperial blockade over Lothal in exchange for some Puffer Pig]. Upon arrival, they discover the condition on Lothal has got even worse. Vizago gets them pass the blockage, but the Imperials have scanned the Rebels on board. Upon reaching the surface, which now looks like a wasteland, Vizago's ship is escorted to Jalath City where the Imperials attach a gravity lock and send in a search crew. Certain they have been discovered, the Rebels manage to avoid capture by using the Puffer Pigs to create a diversion, leaving Vizago to handle the Imperials. The Rebels escape into the city, and decide to split up. Ezra, Sabine, and Chopper head for Old Jho's to make contact with Ryder, while Kanan, Hera, and Zeb arrange some transportation.
The Rebels find the streets completely deserted. Nobody, expect for Stormtroopers, are out and about. Ezra, Sabine, and Chopper make it to Old Jho's Pit Stop, and discover it is now under Imperial management. To avoid any superstition, Ezra and Sabine go in to buy themselves a drink, and meet Baron Valen Rudor, who now owns the bar after Jho was executed for trying to help a group of Rebels escape. Listening to Ruder take pleasure over what happened to old Jho pushes Ezra to nearly lashing out, only for Sabine to drag him away. However, they forget to pay for their drinks and are halted by Stormtroopers. Then some stranger shows up, pretending to be an old friend. He pays for their drinks, and escorts Ezra and Sabine outside, where he reveals himself to be Jai Kell from the Imperial Academy. Ryder sent him to meet up with Ezra. He was going to call for a pick, but then Kanan, Hera, and Zeb arrive with a speeder. However, they are cut off by Imperial tanks that destroy their speeder, forcing them to retreat into the sewers. The Imperials dispatch probe droids to track them.
The Rebels eventually become lost in the maze of tunnels, and the probe droids soon catch up with them. The Rebels split up. Everywhere they go there are probe droids and Stormtroopers. Ezra, Sabine, Zeb, and Chopper get lost again, and a frustrated Ezra does not feel he can find his way on Lothal anymore. He blames himself for pushing his friends into coming back, and starts to agree on what Gerrera said before. He did not want to believe it, but it was clear to him that Lothal was already lost to the Empire. Sabine and Zeb assure him that the fight is not over yet, and if this were to be the end for them at least they would go down fighting. Just then, Sabine noticed her symbol painted on the walls. Suspecting that Ryder left them a trail to follow, they go where the symbols are pointing. They arrive at the main junction where they regroup with Hera, Kanan, and Jai. The Empire corners them, but the Rebels escape up a ladder and through a hatch, where Ryder is waiting for them. They escape aboard a U-Wing, and head for Ryder's base.
