The Owl is a character from the Disney Parks.
History[]
Developmental[]
The Owl was created by the animator Marc Davis. The character was created for the Tomorrowland attraction America Sings to be amongst the singing animatronic anthropomorphic animals. Said attraction would close down in the 1980s.
The owl animatronic, along with the other animatronics from America Sings, was repurposed for the newly developed attraction, Splash Mountain.
As of 2020, Splash Mountain was announced for closure to retheme it into a Princess and the Frog-inspired attraction in order to remove references to Song of the South due to controversy surrounding the film which the attraction was based on. Therefore, the owl animatronic was been removed in the Disneyland version. The Disneyland version of Splash Mountain permanently closed on May 31, 2023.
Appearances[]
America Sings[]
The Owl appeared in America Sings when Tex Ranger was singing "Home on the Range" at the end of it's second musical act: "Heading West", before the song loops into the attraction's third act, "Gay Nineties".
Splash Mountain[]
In Disneyland's Splash Mountain, the owl could be seen inside a mill pond as guests would go up passing by the owl.
